Most people don't know that there is another "Tusker" besides the Nigerian one. This lager is brewed in the tiny South Pacific nation of Vanuatu, and for all intents and purposes is the one of the only beers in the country (a few Aussie imports and other uncommon offerings by Vanuatu brewing aside).

I rate this beer by taking into account something which if often overlooked in beer reviews...geography and climate. This beer is brewed in the sweltering heat and is meant to be enjoyed in it.

Appearance: Looks like a typical BMC. Very pale.

Smell: Not too much here. A bit grassy and a touch of Heineken-esque skunk.

Taste: Again, nothing to write home about. Typical BMC, with a bit of a metallic aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Similar to other pale lagers

Drinkability: Ok, it smells like grass and tastes like steel, but after a day of scuba diving, volcano touring and jungle trekking there is nothing better. Just writing this review takes me back to the wonderful nation of Vanuatu.

I have to say I don't perfer lagers but this was OK.

Appearance was a yellow Gold with one finger of head that died rather quickly all the time bubbles from bottom rose in the glass and collected on the sides of the glass.

The only detectable aroma was fruity. The taste was all citrus and grain rather bland to me.

The light mouthfeel was somewhat refreshing and the slight pine bitterness and high carbonation made it tingly in your mouth. It's light but no better than any US lager the carbonation made be burp more than normal. :P

Served from a bottle into a goblet at Garrick's pub in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a clear yellow. Appears overcarbonated. Thin two finger of decent retention.

Sm: Clean malted barley. Maybe a bit musty.

T: Clean open to otherwise standard body except for a quite pleasant off-caramel note. What is that doing in a lager? I don't know - but I love it. Hops. Simple but balanced. Pear esters.

Mf: Nicely coarse and no wetter than it needs to be. Lagers are easy to fuck up, but this one is quite nice. Who knew Africa could deliver a far better lager than most European and American brews I've tried?

Dr: High price in Belfast, but it's a unique beer. I'd like to try more Kenyan beers based solely on this one. The ABV is a bit low, however. If I'm ever on Safari, I'll be switching between this beer and me elephant gun. Hemingway style?

a: maybe the lightest beer in color that i have ever seen; light light straw with completely clear edges; no head at all

s: very sweet hay; light light honey;

t: sweet hay; light skunkiness; some dry wheat; really not much there but very very sweet

m: a little syrupy; light body; tight high carb on the tongue

d: i as disappointed with this beer, i was really pulling for it to be good and loves the aesthetic but it is weak; too bad

A - light colour with the appearance of high carbination

S - no real smell

T - pleasanty supprised with the light taste & not a light beer taste. Hint of a light malt taste

M - no lingering taste.

O - nice light beer to drink after dinner. Though it appeared to have lots of carbination, doesn't leave you feeling bloated like many beers. Went well with salad.

Tickers gotta tick Kenya! Pours clear light yellow and makes Coors Light look like an imperial stout. No head. Smells like sweet honey and malt. Super light mouthfeel. Flavor is sweet honey and hay, clean finish. High carbonation. Honestly this isn’t bad for a summer session beer. Easy drinking, sweet flavor. Take this over any US macro.

Poured from the bottle, it was a gift from my friend.

A- Crystal clear golden/straw, with a half finger white bubbly head. Retains quite well and has some good lacing.

S- Pale malt, light biscuit backbone, with a crisp hop nose.

T- Light maltiness with a very well balanced hop character.

M- Light, clean, and just a little fizzy.

O- It is a mass produced lager, but I would take it over Bud any day. It doesn't have the stale shitty taste you get from American Lagers.
