I got this in a growler. It has high alcohol content, but the taste is good, a little malty a little fruity just a hint. It goes down easy. It's not abrasive even after drinking the entire growler. Good beer if you want to get stoned to the bejesus.

On tap at the Sweet Water Tavern in Fairfax VA.
Server in pints which is too much for a high (8.9) ABV beer, so only had a 5 oz taster. This limits my assessment of look and smell, but the color is clear and the head fine in this small Pilsner style glass.
Taste is definitely boozy, but not excessively so. Little malt presence to balance the alcohol. Enjoyable as a light liquor or aperitif but not a beer.

Poured into a pilsner glass, has a copper color with a hint of red. Transluscent. Creamy head, and I mean creamy. Very tiny bubbles come on top and form a whip-cream type head.

S - Roasted malt and that unmistakable bock smell.

T - Very malty with that great bock taste on the back of the tongue. Some straw mixed in on the very front.

M - Medium carbonation and very smooth.

I think this is a very good bock beer. A great taste that goes down easy. Great for spring.

Appearance: Tawny copper color. Not much head due to it being a draft beer (and the bartender topping it off), but what there is leaves a nice lacing.

Smell: Mild malt aroma, and a very strong flowery bouquet, like carnations or daisies or something; sweet and grassy. Appropriate to the maibock style and the celebration of spring that it represents, I suppose. But I've never smelled anything like it in any other beer.

Taste: Malt and hops, with a hint of buttery diacetyls. Clean, well-balanced, and nicely rounded. It's not a complex flavor, but it proves that complexity isn't necessary for a sublime brew experience.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, with moderate carbonation, enough to give it some texture. Very nice.

Drinkability: Quite good. Not filling, nor cloying. You could drink several of these.

Overall: A nice beer, worthy of the "maibock" designation.
