A 500ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2014. Picked up a while back from Trembling Madness in York. A collaborative brew between BBF, Arbor and Harbour brewing; the label describes it as a marriage of American and Belgian brewing techniques using Belgian yeast and US hop varieties.

Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A rich, hazy amber hue with fine sediment and medium carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing. Aroma of bright fruity notes with hints of melon, white grape, papaya, mild citrus, subtle yeast esters, mild banana, light caramel malt, a touch of spice and earthiness. Very nice - balanced and delicious.

Tastes of fruity aromatic hops and yeast esters, with a dry finish. Notes of white grape, melon, papaya, lemon, mild citrus, grass, earthiness, yeast esters, subtle spice, a hint of caramel malt and stewed hops. A whisper of booze in the background along with a faint tartness. Highly attenuated, followed by a spicy, hoppy bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingy, with spritzy carbonation and good body. Very astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of light, fruity hop notes, leafy bitterness and earthy yeast.

Superb. The three breweries involved clearly have a surfeit of talent. It looks great, while the aroma and flavour are an amazing blend of light, fruity hops, subtle yeast esters and a lingering bitterness. The flavour combination is perfectly judged (and I don't say this lightly; many Belgian IPAs just don't work). Lovely body. A top-notch beer that goes down a treat. Simply fantastic. I suspect this was a one-off, but if you come across it don't hesitate to snap it up.
