Mahogony with pitted, rocky taupe head that leaves clumps of foam.
Toast, treacle and mint, but fairly mute nose.
Tea brack, cocoa powder, raisin, some appley esters in the middle, then mild blackberry + pepper hops.
Dark caramel and root beer end + long barky linger.
Medium, chewy, a bit salty.
As much old ale or premium bitter as winter warmer. Complex malts - chocolate-covered peanuts. Hops a bit underdone, though it's bitter enough to be balanced.
Solid, but still haven't been wowed by this brewery.

Bottle conditioned 500m (best before 27 Apr 2013)l: in The Victoria, Birmingham during a mini-pub-crawl on 18th September 2012.
Poured it myself: didn't trust the staff who were waving the bottle about like it wasn't bottle conditioned. Very cold when given to me.
Deep amber/brown body with a thin tan coloured head (due to my cautious pour and its coldness).
The aroma took a while to arrive, but as the beer warmed a mixed bag of malty smells started to fill my nose. Chocolate tart with dried fruits and a hand full of salted nuts just about sums up the esters.
The taste was also leaning towards the malt side of things although there was also an undercurrent hop bitterness just below the semi-sweet maltiness.
My first beer from these people: I'll have some more if I come across any.

Pours a pleasant wintery dark brown with slight ruby tinge - very reassuring
Smell is a bit faint but nice raisins and caramel. The taste is surprisingly mild - a bit too mild for my liking - was looking for something bigger.
Goes down nicely a winter beer...
