On cask at the GBBF, 2011.

Rusty gold with steady loose foam that laces. Musty nose with a bit of apricot.
Pear cake and toffee sauce up front, maybe a bit of mushroom funk, and musty lemon sourness.
Lingering bitterness. Clingy, medium, drying.

Nice, but I don't get the hop presence that others seem to. Either Sorachi Ace is not the most exciting hop, or this isn't a great example. Still easy to drink, and low ABV helps.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Dec 2013. Acquired a while back from Trembling Madness in York. A pale ale hopped with Columbus and Sorachi Ace.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. Bottle conditioned. A rich orange-amber hue with chunky floating sediment and medium carbonation. Produces a large head of frothy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing. Aroma of fruity, floral hops with hints of citrus, melon, faint peel, mild caramel malt and earthy yeast. Rather nice.

Tastes of light, floral hops and subtle malt with a dry, bitter finish. Notes of lemon, citrus, faint peel, grass, earthy yeast, mild caramel and stewed hops. Well-attenuated, followed by a restrained bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with light carbonation and decent body. Could be a tad more effervescent. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of mild citrus hops and earthy yeast.

Tasty and nicely balanced, though I was hoping the hop character would be more intense. Perhaps this bottle has been sitting around for too long - I'll try and re-review a fresh one at some point. Looks alright, with an aroma and flavour of light, fruity hops and dry yeast. Satisfying body for the strength. A respectable pale ale from BBF; give it a whirl if you come across it.

A light amber. Seems well-kept. Nice bubbly head and well-marked lacings.

Nice citrus hops on the nose.

Quite flavourful for a session beer. Malt leans towards fruity, nicely complementing the citrus hops.

Bit oily in the mouth, but goes down easily enough.

Very drinkable. A nice choice at 3.8%.

500ml. appearance: clear gold with thick, white lasting head. smell: minimal. taste: fruity hop. medium sweetness and bitterness. mouthfeel: lengthy, medium bodied. overall: A well-balanced, good beer. Quite a refreshing sherbet-spicy feel. Uses Columbus and Sorachi Ace hops. Bottle-conditioned.

Golden and slightly hazed, virtually headless, but then the standard British pint glass does not easily accommodate a respectable crown of foam. Glorious Sorachi Ace aroma, lemon and tea, vanilla and coconut, butterscotch and grass. Beautifully articulated, but still subtle. Honey-ish malts lend a pleasant bass note. If ever a beer smelled both sweet and hoppy at the same time, this is it. The flavor is round and lush, filling the mouth with a deeply savory-sweet profile of toffee, rosewater, coconut, Earl Grey, vanilla, hay, lemon, lychee, and bitter orange marmalade. Malts? What malts? They're in there somewhere, but so superbly interwoven with the complexities of the hops that they only register as mild caramel, light toast, and slight viscosity. It could be dryer, but it doesn't really need to be. A real treat, especially at only 3.8%!
