750ml bottle poured into a snifter. The head was a solid half-inch of thick, rich foam. Not much lacing...what managed to cling to the inside of my snifter quickly slid down and was assimilated into the cap. The color was clear golden perfection, with enough effervecent carbonation to keep things lively. The nose was slightly sour, with hints of fresh bread cut with notes of sweet malt. Mouthfeel seemed a bit thick.
The taste contained notes of bananas and cloves, which was surprising. Perhaps notes of fresh pears and dates/figs, with a spicy and boozy finish. The brew settled into my belly with a comfy warmth to be expected from a 9.5 ABV. I gotta hand it to these Trappist monks...if I wasn't getting laid, I guess I'd be brewing the best damn beer I could. They've done well here...I'm a fan of boozy Trappist brews, and this ranks up high on my short list. Without a doubt, I'll be buying this one again.

Poured into a Westmalle chalice.
Pours a nice Hazy gold. Not much head that dissipated quickly.
Smells like sweet bread/malts. Also getting some light fruits like apples and pears. Slight banana smell.
Taste is malty and sweet like most trappist tripels. I get some crisp apple taste, as well as some banana, like a weizenbock almost, just not as fruity an floral.
Mouthfeel is tremendous. Very light and crispy. HIgh carbonation, which is nice and tingly. mentioned how it compared to a weizenbock. Not nearly as thick as that. Very light, with a slight malty craeminess.
Overall a very good beer. Not the best trappist I've had (doesn't say much since they're all amazing), but still a very good one. I enjoyed the apple flavor. faint, but definitely there. Like biting into a freah apple right off the tree.
