Poured a creamy white head; a murky, yeasty, orange, deep golden color. Sticky and sugary lace on the glass. Bits of yeast and sediment floating around.
So complex I can't really find words to describe...sweet apples soaked in melted sugar, bitter twigs and earth; yeasty; candied dirt and sweet yams; malted and dried apricots; peaches and cream; the hops are quite subdued in the aroma.
Tasted like pine and pineapple coved in extra sugar and yeast; spices and pepper; phenols and esters galore; peaches and creamy cream; sugared malt with a hint of melted and toasted sucrose; pine and dirty earth covered in a layer of sweetened condensed banana syrup; aftertaste is sweet, yet balanced by a simple bitterness; light hint of alcohol in the aftertaste, but it's well hidden. I don't have enough adjectives to describe. Good tasting beer!
Mouthfeel is chewy and syrupy; creamy and crisp. It feels full-bodied upon the first sip, but the overall body is light and dangerously drinkable.
What an experience. Great beer, very balanced and different from anything an American brewer could pull off IMHO.
**Second 5 rating I have given to a beer! Orval was the first.
