Pours golden color in Westmalle chalice. One fingered head with little lacing.

Smell's of cherries and citrus.

Taste is ripe fruit. Grapefruit and banana. There is a little funk there too. Mildly bitter finish.

Mouthfeel is richly carbonated. Smooth and medium bodied.

Overall this is excellent.

Pours a goldenrod color with a tall white head in my snifter. Some tiny solids suspended in the liquid. Smells like sour apple, sweet malt. Yeast and spice in there too. Taste starts with a sweetness, then I get a saison funk, Tart citrus, And a little bit of alcohol taste. Mouthfeel is medium thick, light easy carbonation.

330ml bottle into a tumbler. BB date 29/6/13

Pours a cloudy straw yellow with a white foamy head, nothing too remarkable here. Smell is quite nice: yeasty spiciness featuring cloves and bananas. Also smells remarkably sweet and citrusy and dry. Taste is sweet and spicy with lots of yeast presence, a very tasty brew Some alcohol can be tasted. Mouthfeel is high carb and medium body, pleasantly prickles the mouth.

This is the best tripel I've had, more complex than the American tripels I have had. Reminds me of a heavier bodied and less dry, spicy wit. Carbonation is a bit high for my taste, helps to let it breathe a bit before enjoying.

After a nice trip to my local Total Wine, I was able to pick up the Westmalle Dubbel and Tripel! As a Trappist ale, I expected perfection, and what I received was nothing less!

A: Pour was a golden cloudy amber with about half a finger of off-white head leaving an excellent lacing.

S: Very complex aroma, definite citrus with some malty sweetness and a hint of flowery hops.

T: Very nice malty sweetness combining with the tart citrus flavors and an excellent hoppy bitterness with finally a nice alcohol heat to cleanse.

M: Typical Trappist perfection, a very light bubbly feel overall with just enough syrupy character to coat well and complement the flavors!

For the style, I find this to be the best beer that I have had! I really enjoyed Westmalle's Tripel as I found that everything balanced so well! Will definitely be having more of these in the future!
