A: Pours a dark brown with maroon highlights. Head is large, creamy, and toffee-colored. Nice lacing, excellent head retention.
S: Toffee, caramel, dark fruit, some spice, smooth vanilla, and light cocoa. Interesting aroma, could be a bit stronger.
T&M: A faint and dry toffee-like malt is upfront, with a slight dark fruitiness and an ample amount of spice. Some metallic flavor on the finish. Not quite as rich or full a dubbel as I'm accustomed to. Body is medium with a zesty, spicy carbonation that's a little bit heavy and lacks the smoothness I associate with Belgians.
D: Metallic flavor makes it a bit tough to put down, but the flavor and body are both on the lighter side.
