94 degrees outside in DC today, so a Belgian Dubbel, why not?
11.2oz bottle, best before 9/12, poured into my Gulden Draak tulip.
Appearance: Colour is a deep mahogany, showing no transparency. Some amber on the edges, with a pillowy off white head.
Smell: Nose is primarily bread and grains with a a touch of nuts and raisins.
Taste: A bit more dark fruit and candy sugar in the taste than in the nose. Still holds onto the malts heavily. Figs, raisins, nuts, and sugary sweetness all present. A bit of yeast flavor at the end.
Mouthfeel: Strong and crisp carbonation, a bit abrasive.
Overall: This is a strong example for the style, and balances the candy sugar and fruits with the malt backbone very well.
Serving type: bottle
