A: This Trappist-beer pours dark brown - almost black, with a powerful, thick light-brown head, that stays for a really long time. Since all Trappist-beers are bottled conditioned there is a lot of cloudiness to this great looking beer.
S: The complexity is awesome, there is (roasted) malt, bitter hops and fruit (apples). This smells great!
T: The first thing that hits my tongue is a taste of roasted rye bread. But there is also obvious sweetness, a hint of bitterness, after a little while the taste of the malt turns into chocolate. There is also fruity flavours: green apples and a bit of raisins.
The aftertaste is still sweet, but turns drier as time goes by. In the end there is some hops.
This is a complex beer that tastes fantastic.
M: Rich and a bit viscous, a little like syrup.
D: This must be one of the best beers ever. I'm thinking about joining the monastery that produces such a fantastic beer ;-). This one you must try.

Deep purplish brown with fluffy khaki head that lasts. Aroma of cookie, caramel, grape cola, herbal notes. Tastes evolves over time: cola, grape, caramel, cookie, herbal notes, mild earth, banana, some grass and veggie aftertaste. Medium bodied with high carbonation. Creamy and bubbly and dry. The beer evolves as its sipped. A beautiful legendary beer that is still the quintessential Dubbel. A real old world treat. It's our duty to keep buying this beer.
