Grand Crus are traditionally known as "The best beer that a brewery makes." This Belgian-style quad lives up to that name and then some. Available once a year, in May to celebrate our Anniversary.

750 ml bottle into a chalice. I believe it's the 2016 edition. Had 12/23/16.

Pours a reddish amber, lightly hazy, with not much of a head and some loose lacing. Smells of grapes, figs, dates, plums, some malt, toffee, raisins, some yeast. The taste also begins with grapes- more prominent than the nose, then dates, plums, raisins, figs, caramel, some wine, malt- a lighter touch for the style, light alcohol. Sweet, but not cloying. Smooth, lightly creamy, a solid, but lighter body for the style, well carbonated.

A great, lighter bodied Quad. The flavors and aroma aren't as heavy as typical for the style, but still really good and well developed. Well worth a purchase.

I'm new to quads, but this is my second one today. Rather than the perfumey dryish flavor of the other i tried, this had a creamy honey caramel flavor. Very malty and smooth. Almost a desert beer. I'm enjoying it immensely. Good job dragonmead!

Appearance- The beer poured a dark orange color with a crisp white head.

Smell - I would best describe the nose as boozy vanilla oak.

Taste - My first thought is caramelly peaches. There is an undertow of honey. It is so smooth and balanced. The taste profile just seems to end, but the beginning is so good.

Mouthfeel -For a quad, this is so smooth.

Overall - I aged this beer for a couple of years, and was rewarded. This is a fantastic example of the style.

Belgian Quadrupels are probably my favorite style of beer. The Armageddon from Dragonmead represents this style quite nicely! It's heavy, malty and has a nice sweet-caramel/brown sugar character to it. Pouring this brew was a bit on the frustrating side - had to use pliers to remove the cork. There was almost no "pop" upon release. The beer did develop a nice 1/2" tan head when poured (I was suspecting it might have been flat.) I'll be buying this one again!

Decent beer, not as good to me as their mainstay Final Absolution, but definitely drinkable. Funny I also bought this at local Costco for under $9 for a bomber size...

Bought this from Costco. Served into a tulip. Popped the cork but there was no sound or release of vapors. A bit concerning but I drank it anyways.

Pours a clear copper kettle color with a short off white head that dissipates rather quickly. To my relief, it is carbonated. It smells of honey, barley, yeast, oats, dried fruits. It is quiet sweet and a tad bit dense and syrupy. A touch of bitterness at the end from the hops. It has a full body but lower levels of carbonation, I wonder if it was a bottling problem, the cork made no sound when I popped it. Oh well, regardless, it's still excellent. Great flavor.

750 ml bottle into chalice, 2014 vintage bottling. Pours fairly crystal clear orange/copper color with a thin off white head with poor retention, that reduces to a thin ring of lace. Minimal lacing on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana, clove, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, candi sugar, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana, clove, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, candi sugar, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana, clove, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, candi sugar, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, fairly slick, and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent quadrupel style! All around great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
