American Amber / Red Ale |  5.00% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
The American hop Cascade is used to give this brew its classic American Aroma. Pale and Crystal malt from the U.S. are used to give this beer a medium body and high hop flavor. This beer goes down easily and opens the door to a world of microbrewed beers.

Deep, clear copper-colored beer. Malt dominant aroma with caramel being the main aroma component. Fair malt body, again caramel seems to be the main player, along with weak notes of hop bitterness, just enough to make a dent in the malt presence. Fair and typical amber ale.

This one smells hoppy, even though it's an Amber (confusing). The color was reddish-orange and clear. There was a small amount of lacing with this one. This beer had a hoppy taste, which I usually don't care for. It was less hoppy as it got warmer though.

I've tried the Crooked Door at the brewpub, and made a mental note that it'd be pretty tastey with some hot wings. Well, yesterday I had the time to snag a growler and some wings, so I naturally went with the Crooked Door.

It pours a nice, medium amber with about a fingers worth of foam. Lacing was definitely present, as it is with most Dragonmead brews. Smells of malts and caramel mostly, with a slight amount of hops peaking through.

It's a bit sweet on the palate, lots of caramel, malts... ever so slight hop finish makes you come back for another drink. Not super carbonated, nor very thick, these go down easier than you may notice ;)

By no means a strong beer, Dragonmead's Crooked Door American Amber Ale is a fantastic compliment to spicier foods, and not bad for a session beer. I'd order it again.

at the brewery from the tap. poured a medium amber with a tan head that didn’t last very long. aroma light malts and caramel, with just a hint of hops. flavor, caramel , honey, malts and a little fruity. this would be one of the beers you might want to give to somebody that wants to explore the wolrd of micro brews. not to bad.
