Poured bottle to a deep hazy golden orange color. Two finger falls quickly and has nice lacing throughout.

Slight citrus aroma and small hints of hops.

This has a nice citrus, orange, hops, slight maltiness, with a peppery dryness. Its a nice full bodied beer, well done on the Belgium style. Alcohol is well hidden for the high octane level. Good biscuits and dryness aftertaste.

Overall, very nice Belgium style beer.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass

A-cloudy golden apricot color, 2 finger head that quickly receded, little lacing

S- banana, bubblegum, cloves, citrus

T- lots of sweetness up front, candied sugar and honey, bubblegum, cloves, coriander, almost black licorice, lemon, slight hops on finish

M- medium-heavy syrpy feel with high carbonation, smooth and dry

O- interesting American style Trippel. It's a little sweet for me but I love the complexity of Aroma and flavor

A: Honey amber tones, cloudy with particles also floating within, large and small bubbles rising to the surface, one finger of white head.

S: Very complex floral and fruity bouquets, true Belgian yeasts, mold, apples, peaches and pears, some alcohol, lots of floral qualities like a perfume.

T: Seriously good. I get the floral notes, fruitiness, perfume, melon, candy corn, russet pears, Chinese pears, Belgian yeast, and mold. Its quite sweet but well balanced with all the complexities. Light bitterness lingers on the tongue.

M: Thick, syrupy body, medium carbonation.

O: Very surprised by this one. I like it more than some Belgian trippels I’ve had from Belgium, though, this one is from Michigan. Its appearance, smell, taste, mouth feel, and overall impression put this one near the top of my list. Great stuff coming from Michigan! Found it in Saginaw at Opperman’s Cork-n-Ale.

Undated bottle at 55 degrees into standard pint
Aroma of spice and yeast
Head average (3 cm), off white, fizzy, rapidly diminishing to broken 1-2 mm ring and some small islands
No lacing
Body is medium yellow with slight haze
Flavor begins slightly sweet with yeast and spice; a slight alcohol burn becomes very pronounced immediately after swallowing. No hops or diacetyl are noted.
Palate is medium, slightly oily, with lively carbonation.

Over the years I have had various Dragonmead brews and have yet to be impressed. This is no exception.

Served on tap in a chalice glass

Appearance – The beer is served a lightly hazed orange-yellow color with a small head of white foam. The head fades quite quickly leaving only a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is that as may be expected for a triple. The strongest smell is that of some bubblegum and banana mixed with some aromas of a spice nature. The spice is heaviest of a clove smell but contains other aromas of some lemongrass and coriander as well. Along with these smells comes some light biscuit smells as well as some other aromas of a candied sugar and yeast cake smell. Overall it is on the sweeter side but delicious, hiding any boozy aromas quite well.

Taste – The taste begins quite sweet upfront with lots of candied sugar and fruit of banana, orange, and pear. From the start there are also some more doughy like flavors that create a base for the sweeter flavors to rest upon. Quickly some flavors of yeast and spice come to the tongue, bringing some degree of balance to the sweet. The spice is quite heavy of clove, coriander and some pepper with it really giving a nice bite to the beer. With the addition of the yeast and spice, so too comes some more biscuit like flavors in replacement of some of the doughy flavors, and with that transition there is also a nice increase in the candied sugar flavors as well as a nice bubblegum flavor. With a bit more banana and some grass coming to the tongue at the very end of the taste, one is left with a sweet but quite pleasant and enjoyable Belgian triple flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. The combination of the two is very nice for the yeasty, spicy and fruity flavors of the brew, making for a rather nice easy drinking triple.

Overall – Overall a very tasty and quite nice drinking tripe that, while a bit on the sweeter side, was very balanced and smooth. Quite delicious and well worth a try if you get the chance.

Dense bright gold/orange with thin white head, mild lacing and tiny bubbles.

Aroma is peppery citrus, orange and lemon with cloves. Some ethanol and light malt.

Initial taste is banana and cloves then sweet candy orange. Mild spicy, clean bitterness. Dry phenol and ester aftertaste.

Medium-light body with high carbonation and a bit of oily sheen. Medium ethanol warmth.

I'm no expert on trippels but this has a lot of interesting flavors and is well balanced if a tad sweet. The alcohol waits until you aren't looking and sneaks up on you.
