Deep brown, almost black coloring upon pour, 12oz bottle into snifter. Very little head, but off white where it is. Nice caramel, molasses on the nose. Very smooth, sweetness upon a low carbonated mouthfeel. Overall great Scotch Ale/Wee Heavy, give her a try! Cheers!

Undated 12 oz bottle served in a snifter.

Pours dark but clear, with a tan head of moderate size and retention. Minimal lacing.

Aroma: more like wine vinegar than Scotch Ale.
Flavor: Some vinegar here too, about matching the dark malts. Light smoke in the finish.

O: "Unique taste" indeed. Probably not at its best, but then again the bottle was from a reliable store, and carefully cold-stored for just a few months. I note other reviewers have reported "bad' versions of the bottled ale.

Appearance: A near opaque brown with lively red highlights. Poured with a light tan head that dissipated.

Aroma: Sweet and yeasty.

Taste: Candy sweet like the aroma with a suggestion of breadiness. Scant hoppiness in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: The perfect body for this style, though maybe a little over carbonated.

Overall: This is a winner! Very enjoyable on a cool Fall night.

look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.75 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Appearance: deep brown almost black. near opaque but with a reddish brown hue at the edges. small tan head that sticks around as a lacing

Smell: brown sugar, earthy hops, some dark fruits

Taste: super sweet brown sugar up front, gives way to a peaty, earthy hop bitterness, and finishes off with a dark fruit, and toffee/chocolate sweetness. alcohol is present and almost comes off bourbon-like

Mouthfeel: pretty heavy, pretty sticky

Overall: that is a tasty brew. sweet but balanced, dark and rich. knowingly alcoholic. not much you could do to make it better.
