Nice cooper/reddish coloring. Thick head. Attractive lacing.

Not much aroma going on. I get a little malt.

Very average, unremarkable red ale.

Outstanding bottle and bottle art.

Drinkablity is okay. You can mindlessly throw it back like an undead.

This beer poured out with a red color and a yellowish white head. The lacing was pretty good. The smell of the beer has a nice hop aroma and some sweet malts in the mix. The taste is of citrusy hops and caramel malts. The mouthfeel had a good bite to it and carbonation. Overall it's a pretty good tasting beer and I would drink it again.

Pours hazy blood red color with orange around the rim and a solid 1 finger creamy tan head that dissipated slowly; very good lacing that stuck to the glass leaving a wall of foam after each sip.

Smells of floral hops, grapefruit, caramel, sweet malt, brown sugar and or candy, toffee, dark fruits like raisin or plum, maybe a little rum or whiff of alcohol. Might even be some yeast and faint toasted grains in the nose, which also came through in the flavor.

Tastes pretty complex, but not very balanced as the malt sweetness dominates the taste buds and represses the hops present in the aroma. Tastes of sweet malt, brown sugar, toffee, dark fruits like raisin or plum, honey, toasted grains, grass, light citrus hops, grapefruit, caramel and again what seems like rum. The alcohol really shows itself throughout this brew and just adds to the confusion. The red ale style is one that I have limited experience with, so I referenced the definition and decided that it seemed on the mark with the malt carrying the load.

Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth with a full body and tart finish that ends with a slight pucker. Low carbonation, it feels almost like a barleywine on the palate.

Drinkability is on the low side; I liked this beer, but I would have preferred splitting this bomber with someone else. Not sure how I feel about this beer, so I will have to try it again at a later date. I enjoyed it, but just not sure how much I enjoyed it.

Another great ReaperAle label - Death standing by an Eerily foggy grave. Scythe in one hand and a pint of beer in the other. Redemption pours a dark red near chestnut brown color. Things are topped off by a healthy three fingers of light khaki head. Head settles to a ¼ inch ring that leaves plenty of lacing down the glass.

Onto the aroma. Another hop-centric reaper nose. Plenty of west coast c-hops in the nose. Plenty of sweetened grapefruit notes upfront. A bit of mint rounds out the hops. Behind the hops a bit of malt shines. Sweet caramel and toffee notes back up the hops.

The flavor department is no less hop-centric. Bitter grapefruit hits the tongue first. Some Drying mint/pine notes follow. Hop notes are rounded out by a vaguely tangerine like quality. Sweet malt shows up behind the hops to balance things out. Some sugary caramel notes hit first. Caramel fades into toffee notes. The finish is drying with a lingering herbal bitterness.

Redemption tilts toward the lighter side of medium bodied. The carbonation is adequate.

Redemption is a tasty enough red ale. Its not the best of the bunch. That said its a respectable quaff for the hop head in need.

22 oz. bomber poured into a goblet.

A - Murky medium brown similar to the color of iced tea. An aggressive pour was rewarded by a two inch fluffy beige head which stuck around for a good long while.

S - A bit of light roasted malts and some slightly astringent raisin/prune overtones like it's a bit overdone in the alcohol dept. Not terribly pleasant.

T - Not nearly as hot as the nose would suggest, this one is a little bit all over the place. Malty sweetness with a weird corn aftertaste,. Not much hoppiness but it all came together well enough.

M - Medium bodied but not nearly as crisp as other ambers I have tried.

D - An interesting amber that tastes closer to a brown in some respects but not my cup of tea.

New brewery into the state I figured I would pick up one of their offerings, wish I hadn't but what can you do. Served cold and poured into a pint glass, this one was consumed on 02/17/2010.

The pour was decent enough with a nice medium red color and a small cap of tan on top. Faded evening and had a decent enough clarity to let the light show through a medium garnet color. Aroma was light, musky, moldy, a mess. Muted grains and way too much malt just did not work for me here. Light caramel gave way to a wet cardboard and uneven earthy mess. Each sip seemed to bring it worse. Light spice to it? Not sure why but it did not need to be there I could tell you that much. Light notes of earthy hops were lost on the mess of malted grains and bready notes. Each was more painful as it just was not coming together. Really not sure why, it's a red ale, how hard could it be, but it just seemed over done to me.

Overall I would not go here again. Might try the stout, but this needs work.

22oz bottle into a Duvel snifter pours a murky dark amber with a nice frothy off white head that lasts and leaves great lacing on the glass. Aroma is some sweet malts and floral hops. The taste is an interesting blend of sweet malts and Earthy hops that hold a nice balance through to the end. The beer is medium bodied with decent carbonation and just a trace of alcohol presence. This is one I'm glad I tried, but not one I'll likely pick up a bomber of again.

This is quite the interesting beer.
As a red ale, I expected a bland almost shiner bock experience, but was quite surprised by the complexity of the beer.

Has a red amber hue to it and a head that lasts a nice amount of time with at least two fingers depth.

Smells of sweet maltiness and floral hops.

When tasted at first it seems like a sweet hoppy mess, but then is followed by the lasting red ale taste that one comes to expect. So delicious and interesting! Its like a strange exotic party in my mouth. Yay.

Try it, its strange and fun.

Poured into a nonik glass, this ReaperAle beer is a very dark reddish-tinted brown beer with a substantial, dense head. Wafting off the beer is a large hoppy aroma, grapefruit-citrusy like other beers from the brewery. Though there's little malt in the nose, it makes an appearance upfront upon first taste: good caramel with a moderate amount of roastiness. It combines with a large amount of hop flavor, though bitterness is not as high as one would suspect. It finishes with a light lingering bitterness from both the hops and the roast.

Very good red ale, a category or style that is usually the blandest offering from a brewery.

A: Pours a slightly hazy reddish/brown color. A beige head rises to over two fingers with good retention. Sticky lace is left behind.
S: This has a really big nose. Floral and grassy hops. Toasted, bread, and biscuit aromas. A nice medley of fruits, and a light spicy aroma lingers. There are lots of layers here.
T: The flavor is much more reserved than the nose. Some floral and grassy hops again. Caramel malt, and a light toasted flavor. I can detect some alcohol as well. All the subtleties in the nose are gone, but it is still pretty good.
M/D: A medium body with higher carbonation. A little watery. Not hard to drink, but the alcohol does show a little. A good beer to drink, but one is plenty.

This is pretty good. Something that is worth a try.

Presentation: Poured into a tulip glass from a 22oz bottle, similar as pictured, but a new reaper figure.

A: Cloudy, red copper color with decent light tan head and moderate lacing.

S: Earthy hop scent. Slight sweet malt aroma.

T&M: Very smooth medium bodied ale with medium carbonated burst typical of an IPA. Nice flavor. I can't nail down specifics, but fades slowly with a mild hop bitterness and dry finish.

Excellent red ale!

The 22-ounce bomber bottle yields its crown with a hiss, and a gentle pour coaxes forth a brew that is quite clear and ruby-tinted copper in color. A glossy cap of antique ivory foam three fingers thick stands firm atop the drink before slowly relaxing into a fluffy sheet that plasters sticky lacing all over the interior of my Duvel tulip glass. A supplemental pour to drain the bottle unleashes a cloud of freed sediment into the mix and darkens the head-color to pale ecru.

Redemption Red is non-definitively fruity-smelling in a succulent mixed-up fruit salad kind of a way. Notes of honeydew melon, peeled orange wedges, fresh apple blossoms, crushed cola nuts, juicy black plums, and a twinge of tart green citrus accent a mellow caramel undertone. Grassy-sweet and herbal hop notes grow stronger as the drink warms a bit.

The taste is mild and dilutely pear/apple fruity with a toasty caramel backbone holding things together. An accent of mild grassy astringence and a twist of citrus oil work in concert with a sliver of bitter plum rind to balance the drink and dry the finish.

The drink is light-medium in body with plenty of refreshing carbonation to fluff it up a bit. A very easy drinker.
