0,33 cl bottle.
Purchased in Italy. Front label reads "Original" and it is listed at 5.0% abv. The back label description is in Italian and Portuguese so I assume this is for the Italian and Portuguese markets.
Pitch black body with a full tannish slightly brown head.
The aroma is understated but you can definitely pick out some coffee and bitter chocolate as well as a little sourness.
More bitter chocolate and coffee on the tongue before a solid bitter finish that leaves a little hop behind. As I get down the glass the acidity builds up a bit and becomes, for my taste, unpleasant and unwelcome.
This is a very smooth beer.
Not bad at all, but I'm not a fan of the extra acidity that Guinness stouts tend to have(other than, of course, the draught.) Very much a toned down version of the Extra Stout that's available stateside which makes it a little lighter and smoother and easier to drink.

I like stouts, but can't understand the heretofore low ratings. Almost black in the glass with small head and good lacings. Slight fizz on the tongue and nutty flavor with trace of bitterness at the end. Back label is in Spanish with expiry date 18 months away. Also used it to make an outstanding beef stew. Try it !

11.2 oz bottle poured into a Guinness imperial pint.
4.2% ABV

A - Despite their slogan being, "A pint of black", Guinness is actually a beautiful, perfectly clear ruby red that just so happens to look almost completely black in the pint. Even without the Guinness-invented nitrogenation, Original pours with a tall cap of mocha foam that lowers to a lumpy pile slowly while leaving sheets of lace on the pint.

S - Wonderful dry, roasted malts waft from the beer with classic baker's chocolate and oily espresso bean undertones with a hint of burnt bread crust and a dark fig newton fruity finish. Earthy and smooth, the aroma of Guinness Original is an inviting one.

T - Earthy, woody-like hops are quickly washed away by roasted malt that boasts a smooth and delicious bitter chocolate flavor that lingers with a oily coffee bean-like note on the finish.

M - Despite the lack of nitrogen bubbles in this stout, it remains quite smooth with only carbonation which is fairly high. The crisp and light body defies what you'd expect from a beer this dark as it finishes dry and roasted with just a touch of gritty bitterness.

O - From its exceptional appearance and inviting aroma to the smooth, roasted flavor and body, Guinness Original is similar to the nitro Guinness everyone knows, yet also completely different at the same time. This limited release beer is quite delicious and satisfying in every regard.

Without expecting anything, I was surprised by his consistency. I looked where he was made .... and Belgium! Now I understand everything. The Guinness you can take is usually made in barcelona spain and its quality is like the vast majority of Spanish beer, ominous. This at least holds. Dear Belgians !!

Bottle 27.05.16. Slightly aroma of coffee, chocolate and bread. Also peas in a can and little alcohol. Dark brown coloured beer, clear. Beige two fingered head, disappears with no lacing. At tongue strong bite of carbonation. Roasty and medium sweet taste of coffee, dark bread and chocolate. Medium dry and stem bitterness. Nice, little sour aftertaste of coffee and hop. High carbonated, alcohol is perceptible, medium body, thin texture. Not bad, but nothing fancy, also with defects. Low drinkability due to over carbonation.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 13A). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L20:47 82 190. AROMA: roasted malt notes of coffee and slight cocoa. some DMS is noticeable as is some burned rubber. APPEARANCE: black and opaque. thin tanned head with low retention. TASTE: roasted flavour with a very dry finish. low hop derived bitterness with low fruitness. PALATE: medium-light body. medium-low carbonation. some roasted derived astringency. OVERALL: a dry stout with some odd aromas.
