A - Pours a golden brown with a tinge of red to it. Large creamy off white head. Moderate head retention, heavy lacing.
S - Mostly sweet roasted malts with a faint bitter hop presence. Strongly brewed English tea. A metallic scent as well. Rather off-putting to be frank.
T - Roasted malt dominates. Rather sweet taste with a hint of caramel/toffee and a dry, slightly bitter hop finish. I think a fruitier hop variant would better fit the sweeter malts, but I'm sure there wasn't much choice in hops when they started brewing this beer!
M - Low carbonation, light body. Watery but moderately smooth.
D - The lighter body and low ABV make this an easy drinker. Coupled with the overall pleasant taste, a great beer to keep stocked in the fridge. I always like to try new beers, but Smithwick's is one of the few that I'll buy on a consistent basis.

Pours a bubbly, effervescent clear deep amber red with a foamy, frothy eggshell had that slowly dissipates, leaving sticky lacing.
Floral hops, grain, specialty malt fruitiness, and fruity yeast esters accompany a hint of toasted bread. Becomes very metallic late.
Flavor reveals a toasted, nutty, bready malt backbone, which finishes dry and a touch bitter. There's an underlying ester fruitiness that isn't quite as prominent as in the aroma. Slight metallic notes emerge.
Body is moderate, with moderate to slightly high carbonation and a bit of harsh astringency in the finish.
More malt backbone than expected. The bitterness is a little overly done. The metallic character is offputting. Esters are a little odd, as well.
