Served in a tulip glass, poured from an 11.2 oz. bottle with patented 'rocket widget'.

A - A very promising looking black color and a thick, resilient, slightly rust-colored head. The head stayed around forever and left lots of lacing.

S - Thin, somewhat metallic aroma backed with some milky, hoppy freshness.

T - Started off almost flavorless, but the tastes came through as it warmed up. The bitterness is kind of off-putting, but there is some nice toastyness and hoppyness. Very light on flavor for such a dark brew.

M - Here's where it killed it for me. There's no carbonation, which was really a letdown for me. The overall mouthfeel was thin and unimpressive.

D - It's not filling and not strong on alcohol, so I could probably drink a lot of these.

Overall - I didn't exactly enjoy this. It's okay, but it was so insubstantial. I know Irish stouts are low on the fizz factor, but this one had a total lack of it, which was a big detractor for me.

Note: it did say 'drink directly from the bottle'. So I tried it that way too. It made no difference.

Guinness draught 6pk bottles $8.49 (OH)

11.2 oz brown bottle wrapped with black plastic, no freshest by date.

brewed in Dublin pasteurized stout. poured into a pint glass.

pours very dark almost black, however my phone flashlight is pretty weak but it still lights up the entire glass. leaves a two finger tan head that ends up as one finger. leaves very little lacing scattered on the glass.

i smell hints of coffee, toasted grain, roasted malt and caramel.

the taste is more robust than the smell but that being said its good but is lacking some power in its flavor. i taste very little chocolate, mainly a coffee taste followed by a roasted, toasted bitter hop taste.

the mouth feel is super light. almost lighter than water if that's possible. i know its 4.2 abv and low in cals. however i want a stout, not a bud light. leaves the mouth a bit bitter and dry.

overall its not a bad beer, however i prefer a thicker, stronger, more robust stout. i was introduced to Guinness a long time ago with Irish car bombs. but now i ask for an English car bomb. (i find no difference between draught in nitro cans or bottles)

Great classic beer. I wish it had more hoppy flavor. Although it's pitch black and high in calories the taste is light. Almost too light. I still love Guinness but I always crave more. The mouthfeel of nitro beers is always great but in my opinion Guinness is a little watery. Personally I still think it's better than Murphy's.
