The best beer I have ever had, hands down. The creaminess of this beer is matched by no other. The chocolate, coffe flavors come straight through, with no after taste. Not to heavy, not to light. Simply perfect. The model which all stouts are made after. (254 characters)

Not sure why any one would give this great beer an F? It is super!!

A- It is undeniable that guinness has one of the most impresive pours ever. The fall from chocolate milk to black is breath taking. It's head holds a rich tan brown nicely.

S Chocolate, with roasted barley. Espresso coffee.

T- Dark roast , espresso coffee. This is quickly followed by dry roast. The finish is sweet, this is strange because the sweet usually comes first. Bitter stings the end.

M- Surprisingly light to the avid beer drinker, yet very smooth going all the way down. It coats your insides, and you can feel it reach your stomach happily.

D- Super , keep going back for more. A classic.

I Love this beer more than any other stout, its classic and delicious.

reminds me of cold good coffee.

my mom hates beer and when i got her to try a sip from nitro can poured into glass she said she was suprised and enjoyed it.

Not the most punch u in the face stout out there but has very good flavor to be a stout.

i love the bitter choclate and coffe flavor to this beer.

This beer is best if u can find it on tap not regular tap but on nitro tap.

A- dark almost black
S- malt
T- delicious if u like stouts
M- creamy thicker than most beers
D- if you like stouts this is probobly the most drinkable one out there.

overall impression= this beer is sexy and seductive (676 characters)

A - Gorgeous dark brew! Several fingers of beautiful thick cream head.

S - I don't smell much at all

T - This is the one beer that I compare all stouts to. Chocolate and malt notes.

M - Like drinking water, only more tasty.

D - 4.2% ABV. 'nuff said. (253 characters)

One of those beers that has an acquired taste, but once acquired you'll always love it. Either warm or cold it delivers a smooth taste.
Although somewhat expensive, that's not the beers fault. Comes with crazy collectors stuff and its iconic glasses are known worldwide, no wonder its been around for 256 years.

Ahhhh....what a beer

nitro bottle poured into a pint glass. cant remember a date.
there's a lot going on in this beer. The cascading bubbles, the color, everything about this one makes it enjoyable. when they say "its like drinking a meal" they don't lie
whoever "they" are

A guinnes is always a fine choice

Pours black/ruby with creamy mocha beige head. Does not produce much of the "Fall", the waterfall cascade effect of the effervescent carbonation!
Head is well lasting, laces the glass nicely. The taste is of coffee and dark unsweetened chocolate and a tangy bite of bitterness. The nitro bottle is the closest thing to bringing the pub home! (341 characters)

What a wonderful beer. Poured this into my glass and really enjoyed this one. Personally I dont think you can go wrong with a Guinness. Very dark (could not see through when held up to light) wonderful smell and just a really nice thick taste.

While I really enjoy their extra stout and anniversary beer, I personally think this is my favorite. (345 characters)

poured into a nonic glass...

A: A reddish mahogany body supports a thick off-white creamy head (the tiny bubbles are due to the nitro)Great head retention.

s: Dark malts and Coffee-like notes are not too strong but definitely evident.

T: Roasted malts and a coffee-like taste swims inside my mouth. silky to the touch as to the pour. its a mild bodied beer, and although the palate is not too stimulated, this non-carbonated drink is very smooth and easy to drink. good lacing. very high drinkablility. A Definite pleasure! (527 characters)

After a summer in Ireland, Guinness is easily my favorite beer. Unfortunately, the only proper way to have one is from a tap in Ireland and poured by someone who knows the right way to do it. Of all of the Guinness products available in the USA, this comes closest. It is not quite as flavorful as in Ireland, but smooth and with the right feel. Excellent, particularly with dinner, goes down as smooth as water. (412 characters)

THIS BEER REALLY EXISTS, BUT NONE OF THESE REVIEWS ARE REVIEWING IT!!...and it's definitely not the beer in the picture. THE BOTTLE IN THE PICTURE IS THE SAME RECIPE AS THE CANNED "DRAUGHT," except it says 'serve extra cold.' In Scotland , and rarely in Ireland you will find a pub that has the appropriate nitro-tap. And this is exclusively on a nitro tap, which means the appearance, mouthfeel, and drinkability are incredible. BUT aside from the temp difference, I've heard the malt is slightly different from the typically draft. We used to slam these delisciously refreshing perfect examples of a good roasted barley, nightly ,when I lived in scotland. It deserves a better rating. (686 characters)

This is a beer most people think of when they think of dense/dark beer (although if you ask any dark beer drinkers, it isn't that dense).

The selling point of this beer is its dark body with creamy white head. It's a phenominal appearance overall but the taste isn't for everyone.

Its a bitter boggy taste that doesn't give a sharp carbonated bite. It's smooth and very flavorful but its again not for everyone. (413 characters)

Pours a gorgeous dark ruby colour with the greatest light tan head. The nitrogen bubbles are really a work of art :) AMAZING!
tastes a little watered down but has hints of burnt coffee and an amazing smooth flow in your mouth. Drinks really easily and i find it not to be as heavy as everyone says.. people say its a meal in a cup.. i find after 5 or 6 yeah you feel full but that like many beers.
awesome beer and its just really cool!

A very thick and dark chocolaty color with a nice head two finger head. The pour brings nice aromas of licorice and coffee a healthy malty back bone with a hint of esters.
The tastes is full body malty hints of chocolate, coffee and hops.
It is a very good beer drink with a smooth hint of coffee at the finish. Enjoyed this beer (331 characters)

It has the same characteristics as standard Guinness Draught, except it is chilled to a few degrees below the normal serving temperature.

I must say that for as much as I loved the Guinness in Ireland, the Extra Cold was an unexpected treat. The few extra degrees really made a difference for me, as it made the stout even more drinkable than it already is without affecting the flavor.

I recommend that if in Ireland you seek Extra Cold out. (449 characters)

A- It is undeniable that guinness has one of the most impreesive entrances ever. The fall from chocolate milk to black is breath taking. It's head holds a rich sandy brown nicely. With lady-like lacing as you take in the brew.

S Slightly chocolate, with roasted barley. Reminds me of coming home in the middle of a snow storm and your grandmom has some fresh barley stew going on the fire.

T- Sharp entrance, a little sour almost. This is quickly followed by dry roast. The finish is sweet, this is strange because the sweet usually comes first. Bitter stings the end.

M- Surprisingly light to the avid beer drinker, yet very smooth going all the way down. It coats your insides, and you can feel it reach your stomach happily.

D- I find myself drawn to it whenever it is on tap.
It makes it extra special wen the person pouring knows how to. (856 characters)

Ran across this in London. I wonder if it's the same as the Guinness 39 (I've never seen that one). This is served 3 Celcius degrees colder than original draught.
Looks the same. Pitch black body, nice white head. Good pour, barman. No shamrock, though.
Smells the same as well.
Tastes the same; perhaps a bit smoother. Not quite as dry, and even more the same as it warms.
No improvement. Still a good brew as Guinness is one of my favorite mass produced beers. (468 characters)

A: Dark brown color, almost black, the foamy head is thin and very compact, has a plastic tube inside that makes noise when you shake the bottle;

S: Just malt with coffee essence;

T: Malt with coffee and biscuit essences;

M: Very bitter, low carbonation and lightweight body;

D: Very rich, easy to drink and low abv, makes this beer exceptional to drink in excess. (368 characters)

Guinness is a great Beer. I like this version but I really prefer it on tap. My problem is that it gets warm pretty easily and when its warm it's kind of hard to drink. It goes down smooth and it great on it's own. Sometimes I am in the mood for a Guinness. I love it even more on Tap. I am not a fan when it's in a can. Nitro Bottle and Tap are the way to go. (360 characters)

don't know the difference between this "extra cold" and the regular guinness draught, but i digress.

dark black with brown creamy waves throughout, large creamy beige head, excellent lacing.

smells of milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla.

taste is creamy, bakers and milk chocolate, touch of vanilla bean ice cream, some coffee, end is slightly bitter and dry, excellent mouthfeel, creamy while drinking and dry after the swallow. (428 characters)

Appearance is black like coffee with a white creamy head. The smell is is on the mild side with a dash of a typical porter, if I dare to say. The taste is smooth, creamy, and light. Its like the bud light for porters/ stouts, in a good way though. This beer doesn't have any carbonation which make this quite a unique experience. There is something about this beer that is oddly addicting. It Finishes smooth and mild with a slight malt aftertaste creeping though at the end. This beer is truly a one of a kind in fact, I can't think of another beer in the world that is quite like this. But if someone knows of one, LET ME KNOW... (631 characters)

Pours near black with tan head. Head is a little small compared to nitro can that I'm accustomed to for this beer.

Nose is a little weak - some roasty malts and nougat.

On palate this beer has a mild roastiness, thin body, fairly dry, and extremely easy to drink.

Finish is somewhat short and roasty. (303 characters)
