Pours a somewhat soapy, somewhat creamy head. I can't tell if it's going to be a good head or if it's going to crap away. The head is about two fingers in length. The body is pitch black, with tiny hints of red if you hold it right up to the light. It looks pretty damn good, the head is kinda hanging in there, but it is for sure leaving good lacing. It smells like a regular Guinness but with hints of chocolate, cocoa, and maybe some brown sugar. Overall it smells a lot sweeter than a regular Guinness does, which is weird because it's supposed to be a dry stout, oh well, either way it smells really good, and pretty damn unique! Well, definitely more carbonation than a classic Guinness stout, and a lot sweeter. I'm really detecting brown sugar, which is very very tasty. There are some chocolate and cocoa hints, but not much. There is of course the heavy malt character, and a tiny hop bite hidden in there nicely; but mostly it's the brown sugar. The brown sugar taste is not overpowering by any means though, it's well balanced. I mean this beer is just so tasty, it's well balanced and easy drinking. Really really good beer, best beer by Guinness I have ever had, hands down. Mouthfeel is pretty damn good too, it fits the beer perfectly, not too heavy, not too light. This beer is almost perfect, I mean I want to start giving it 5's, it's that good. I don't know what else to say, fantastic!

Pours dark brown, almost black, with a light brown head.

I actually like this one quite a bit. The aroma is chocolaty, similar to English Porter. Light roast, inviting.

A little black licorice in the taste, along with chocolate and light coffee. Very sessionable, I think this is better than their extra stout. Creamy mouthfeel and light carbonation, slightly dry.

Purchased from Consumer Beverage in Hales Corners, WI. Pours a black body with a puffy light tan head. Aroma is of wet cardboard and bready. Medium bodied with more carbonation than is necessary for a stout in my opinion. Astringent flavors are mixed in with the roasted malt flavors. This is the last of the six pack I bought back in May, so it must not keep very long. I remember the first one I tried being better than this, but still nothing very special.

I'm not a big fan of Guinness, but thought this was worth a try. The beer was a very dark brown, almost black, color with a thick tan head. It had a nice aroma of cocoa and roasted malt. Unfortunately, the aroma did not transfer into the taste. A very meek chocolate and coffee taste. On the watery side. I don't think I'll buy another 6 pack.

A couple inches of fizz tops off what looks like an average stout. The head has only the slightest black tint. The initial fizziness leaves me surprised when the thick foam cap just sits there for minutes. If nothing else, Guinness knows how to pressurize a beverage.

Smells like every other Guinness I've experienced: there's a malty, raisiny quality to it--an aroma that's distinctively Guinness. It's almost like you can smell the pressure. The carbonation that forms the head gets creamier as the beer sits, and it offers a milky tip to the nose. As I try to distinguish it from the more familiar Guinness, I detect more raisin and cream. Still, it ain't that much different.

I smelled the cream, but I taste the malt. Though it's there, the raisin sensation is less apparent in taste. The milk effect is like a spoiled aftertaste. It tastes oddly like fancy cheese smells: pungent and old. For such a fizzy pour, the taste is stale malts. Is it more bittering hops in what is usually an ordinary, malty stout?Whatever was supposed to make this special has backfired--it's inferior to a normal Guinness. It's a stale malt milk hop. Though that might sound promising, this is forgettable.

Stale malts make for a dull mouthfeel, and high-pressure carbonation compounds that effect. Throw in the old cheese milky aftertaste, and it feels downright disappointing. Were there not the comfortable familiairity that a Guinness offers, I'd dub it awful.

It's less enjoyable than your average stout, as well as your average Guinness. Though it's lighter than most stouts, I debate whether I'd just as soon have the nothingness of a Bud Light. A stout in that light must really be awful. Throw in that it's a special anniversary beer, this one is a real let-down.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 11.2oz bottle into a pint glass. There appears to be no freshness date on the label.

Appearance: The body has a very dark brown/black color and is nearly opaque. A small tight foamy head about one finger thick sets on top. It is light tan in color and hangs on well making nice rings of lace on the glass each time I sip.

Smell: There are hints of smoky wood with loads dark roasted grain and some dried leafy/mineral like hops.

Taste/Mouth: The base has nice roasted malt flavors with very mild sweetness and creamy over roasted coffee notes. Hop flavor is mild but adds some leafy spice and light mineral notes. The light sweetness dries out into the finish and becomes more roasted and bitter but not overly so. It has a light to medium body, moderate carbonation and an easy drinking texture.

Notes: It's not my favorite stout by Guinness but it is still very drinkable. Happy 250th Guinness!!!

Since a trip to the Irish Republic several years ago I've been a bit harsh in my appraisal of the Irish stouts I've encountered stateside. This bottle doesn't change my opinion. Pours decent enough, with a dark, essentially opaque body and a lavish light brown head that retains well and deposits ample lacing on the glass. Aroma seems a bit muted, with some light roasty malt notes of cocoa and coffee and not much else. Creamy medium to light medium body is a bit overcarbonated. Taste is roasty, but not bitter. Mild notes of cocoa powder and coffee. No hops presence. An okay drinker, but not impressive. Nowhere close to a fresh pint from St James.

11.2 ounce botle. Stouty near black, under a puffy mocha head, that sticks around and leaves plenty of thick lace and ringed sheeting. Mild nose of coffee and oaty malts. Tasty and suprisingly bitter stout, more coffee, unsweatened chocolate, and dry hops late. For me the Guiness family of beers are the classic "in a pinch" type of selections. Nothing amazing but when nothing more interesting is to be had, they are distributed EVERYWHERE and...you know the rest.

Pours dark brown-black with a khaki head. The aroma is roasted malt with some coffee notes. Definitely a better smelling beer than regular Guinness Extra or Draught. The flavor is roasted malt. My problem with this beer is the same I have with Guinness Draught and Guinness Extra Stout, that is the beer is so thin-bodied. I definitely prefer this without nitro since I am not a fan of nitro-stouts. Better than the regular Guinness beers, but still not great.

Tap @ Princess Pub. Poured a nice dark brown with a foamy off-white head with nice retention. Strong lacing. Sweet roasty malt with cocoa powder and earthy grain. Same smooth, creamy mouthfeel and dry finish. Cocoa and bitter roasted malt in the taste, with some vanilla and cream towards the back. Easy drinker, had two of them. Didn't really detect a difference between this and a regular Guinness Draught.

11.2oz bottle poured in an Amstel glass.

pours a dark almost black color with a very small head that fades quick. On the nose is a whole lot of coffee and roasted malts, very toasty, an awesome aroma for a stout.

Taste is awesome for a stout, nice, rich and smooth. It's somewhat thick and creamy, not a meal like many will say of Guinness but still very good. I'm not sure how much longer this will be out but worth seeking out, I think it's pretty decent.

Had this at the Truckee Soroptomist beer fest. Also have had some subsequent bottles of it. Pours not as impressively as the usual nitrogen guinness, but looks cool nonetheless.

Nothing to write home about smell wise, just a hint of the smoke.

Taste is where its at. Superior to normal Guinness, it has a smoky edge to it. A little thicker than the normal stuff too. Mouthfeel is better, stickier, not thin like the normal. Very drinkable.

Appears with a pitch black body with ruby red highlights, light tan head much like a draft version. Head retention and lacing are pretty slick, big chunky layers of lacing coat my pint glass, a very nice looking brew. Aromatics a bit tame but here's what I'm getting...malty milk chocolate with powdered yeast notes slightly tart with some raisin sweetness underneath the dark roasted malt layers. Flavor wise a nice blend of toasted malt from sweet creamy to slightly tart with a lactic mineral character. Finishes slightly fruity without any residual sugars, dark chocolate with tame coffee accents makes this beer much more flavorful than the standard dry irish stout. Mouthfeel is nice as well with the standard carbonation makes this one a medium bodied fine dry irish stout that will hopefully see an imperial form, maybe at the 300th Anniversary. Drinkability overall was nice, definitely a beer I didn't mind imbibing on. Solid example of what Guinness should be all of the time.

On-tap at the Brick Store in Atlanta.

Pours a slightly hazy dark brown color with a one-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving decent lacing. Not quite as pretty as the nitro-tapped normal Guinness.

Smells of lightly roasted malts with hints of burnt caramel and dark fruits.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Lightly roasted malt flavors up front are joined by toasted caramel flavors ending in a roasted malt bitterness. The flavors are all pretty clean but there's not a whole lot of complexity.

Mouthfeel is alright. It's a bit on the thin side with light carbonation.

Drinkability is alright. I finished my glass without much problem but I could pass on another.

Overall this is a decent beer, but there's a reason Guinness is served on nitro-tap.

A- This beer has a black dense body with a creamy beige head that pops of big bubbles and then fades to a thin wisp of foam. There are a few tiny bubbles that stick to the glass.
S- This beer has a light cola note followed by mellow roasted dark malt notes and a cream note in the finish.
T- This beer has a light smooth roasted flavor with a light chocolate malt note and finishes with a soft dark roasted not that doesn't have any bitterness. There is a very light tartness that only comes through when the beer is pretty warm.
M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with no alcohol heat and a thin texture on the tongue. There is a tight fizz that cleans up any flavor at the finish.
D- This reminds me of a Guinness that has been lagered for a good bit of time and is smooth but really doesn't have much character.

250th Anniversary Stout pours the same color as the brown bottle it came in. Rich stained wood color that is opaque but not cloudy. The sand colored head starts out as a fluffy mix of large and small bubbles that have kind of a soapy/ oily look to them. It dissipates to a thin film but still has enough retention to lace the glass. The carbonation is firm in this beer so a light swirl refreshes the head very nicely.

The nose has a dark roasted scent to it that fluctuates between sugary malts and bitter scorched barley. The smell is gritty and processed but not unsatisfactory.

Taste is silky sweet but doesn't have a lot of complexity to it. Some light roasted barley flavor that yields a subtle caramel and a dose of bitterness. There is also some hops in there that add to the overall profile but their flavors are erased by an over carbonation for the style.

Initially this beer reminds me of a cheap extract brew however there is a saving grace. The aftertaste redeems 250 by giving me all the flavors I've been missing in the liquid. Touches of creamy dark chocolate, caramelized sugars and a nice dry roasty flavor.

Ok, this is not the best Guinness I've ever had. It is way to over carbonated and I've found that warming it to room temps and swirling the crap out of it to release the bubbles makes it much better. Fancy packaging and brand loyalty to the Guinness name sold me this beer. Cheers to Guinness and the 250 years but this beer isn't even as close to the fantastic-ness Guinness draught served in Dublin.

The color is typical Guinness black. A nice tan possesses an impressive rocky denseness and takes some time to dissipate, leaving patchy lacing.
The smell is mostly the caramel malt backbone accompanied by a toasty aroma and maybe some dark fruits.
The taste follows suit with a nice addition of balance from hops and a smokier flavor lingering. This has a nice, mild flavor that isn't weak but isn't overpowering either.
The mouthfeel is sturdy with a very nice creamy texture in a moderate body. Carbonation is quite light.
This is a sturdy, tasty brew from Guinness. It might lose points with some BAs for a lack of complexity and a certain lightness in aroma and flavor, but it's balanced, tasty, creamy and very drinkable.

Appearance - almost black body with a nice dark tan head - much like a doberman.

Smell - The smell is rather faint, but smells a bit smoky with that classic malty but creamlike smell.

Taste - The perfect balance between the draught and extra stout Guinness. Tastes much like the draught Guinness with a bit more carbonation, taste, and a bit less creamy. Nothing special, but very good for a a dry stout

Mouthfeel - exceptional! carbonation gives way to a creamy roasty taste that makes your mouth water even more. You'll feel like you need this beer in your mouth more than Obama needs a public approval boost. It's that epic.

Drinkability - Unfortunately, I only have this one bottle. But I could easily go ahead and quaff six of these bastards in about 90 minutes and feel great. It's even tastier on tap!

Situation: Trying to erase PSU's loss to OSU... Glassware: Guinness tulip... Appearance: like any other Guinness--jet black, formal for the evening, with a milky brown head... Aroma: lactic, milky with a smoke that somehow cohabitates into an awakening of cocoa... Palate: soft, creamy body that stands with enough backbone to flourish at the throat--smooth across the tongue with a fortified aftertaste... Taste: velvet milkiness with a complexity unexpected--hops and malts are in a whirl of enjoyment... Overall: A celebration of all that a stout should be--dry, creamy, yet warming, invigorating, a pint that needs to be refilled...

Guinness- 250th Anniversary Stout

Deep dark black with a moderate size tan head. Quick dissapation and no lacing.
S- Light roasted malts with a creamy coffe bean, chocolate, and vanilla nose.
T- Nice roasted malt and chocolate with a creamy vanilla coffee body. Creamy light caramel and a slight dose of molasses.
M- Very smooth very creamy. A nice dry body with a sweet creamy finish.

Overall- Quite good and quaffable. This could be enjoyed all night!

12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Looks like Guinness Draught sans glass-climbing and ultra-creamy head. Ruby red body and mocha-colored head, with not a lot of retention or good lacing.

Smell: Mild and subdued aromas of roasted malt and mild chocolate sweetness. There's really not a lot going on here.

Taste: Again, mild chocolate and roasted grains and malt, with maybe a twinge of coffee sweetness. Pleasant, but there's not much going on at all here.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with sharp carbonation at the end.

Drinkability: Is this Guinness Draught sans nitrogen? I don't see anything all that special about this. A 10% RIS from Guinness, though, would've been an awesome stab at something special for the 250th. Worth a shot, and certainly drinkable, but don't get your hopes up.

A: the body sat mostly black in color while the pour exposed deep orange and brown hues. When pouring a fleeting cascade of golden brown bubbles exploded into a gunky tan colored foam top. The lacing is a sticky mess, very nice

S: softly roasted grains that seem a little mushy and watery to the senses. Light dry cocoa powder smells as well

T: soft spiced nutty notes, a few coffee beans sprinkled with cocoa powder, and a clean well-off finish. Nothing incredibly roasted about this guy. I am finding myself gathering some caramel notes and possible hop notes without any burnt bitterness as with other Guinness
From my understanding 250 is a combination of stout and ale malts. This combo seems to work and provides a crisp, rather clean finish

M: I find this to be rather thin for a stout, even to some porters. Mild body that is very Ale like, mostly due to the stronger carbonation than its Guinness brothers and predecessors. It drinks well

D: I have a hard time calling this an Irish Dry Stout, it drinks more like an Ale or Lager. Still, I don't mind. Flavors are tasty and I would drink it again, but it's nothing to drool over

First stout i've had, ill be drinking more stout if they taste like this one

Appearance- dark colored body, nice creamy head with good retention

smell- caramel and roasted coffee

taste- nice sweet taste, little creamy and a little touch of carbonation to it, no aftertaste

drinkability- easy to drink, could see myself enjoying a six-pack of this

Bottle from Premiere. This is a premium quality to the regular Guiness, however it is still no too drinkable and f course not as good quality as their foreign extra stouts, particularly that of Belgium. Pours very dark brown, with a fomaing head. There is a tad of roast and malt in the aroma. High carbonation and an overall medium mouthfeel.
