Extremely dark in color, almost black through, but hints of mahogany at edges of glass. Two inches of frothy light tan head faded after about three minutes. To dark to see any bubbles rising. Thick stick clumps of lace.
A very bittered scent of burnt roasted malts. Sweetness cames through in the end of an inhalation. Overall a bit weak in the nose. Balanced just not strong.
Very bitter hops bite right up front. Subdued chocolate and coffee flavors. Being just a bit out of balance leaves too much bitterness on the tongue.
Nice creamy feel on the tongue. Carbonation is a bit strong, but flavors still linger.
A average brew overall. Would work well with coffee rubbed grilled pork. I prefer the nitro version over this one. Just a bit off balance in too many areas.
