Poured from 330mL bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: nearly black in color with a clear body; dark ruby highlights are let through when held up to the light. Head is a thick finger of pillowy tan foam. Quite nice.

Smell: aroma is rather grainy with something of an adjunct-laden quality. Not great, but par for the Euro lager course.

Taste: lightly grainy with a nice malt component. There is some caramel flavor as well as a mild, dark fruitiness. Not too bed.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a moderate carbonation. There's a tingly effervescence which borders on creaminess.

Overall: this beer isn't half bad. Granted, I'm partial to the Euro dark lager style, but I'd definitely have this again.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Pours pitch black with brown around the edges when held up to light, and a 1 finger creamy tan head that leaves decent lacing and a creamy layer on top.

Smells of roasted malt, grains, caramel, toffee, herbs and light floral hops; the nose is mostly malt and overall gives off roasted notes.

Tastes like it smells with roasted malt, grains, caramel, toffee, light coffee beans, wheat bread or biscuit, herbs like tea leaf and light floral hops; malty, roasted and grainy with a slight hoppy zest that adds some bitterness.

Mouthfeel is light, crisp and refreshing, with a light body, light fizzy carbonation and a funky malt after taste which is on the dry side.

Overall a decent malty lager which is a nice addition to the Guinness line of products, but just an above average beer unlike the classic Guinness Stout.

Though it looked amazing in my glass and smelled wonderful, the taste was average at best and it had the consistency of water. I have yet to have a good glass of Guinness here in the States, hopefully I will be proven wrong if I ever go to the Emerald Isle.
