Starts with a hint of caramel which gives way to the bitterness of the hops. Full flavored but not heavy. Very drinkable!

On Tap

Appearance – This beer looks great. A beautiful orange red colour with a massive white head of tiny nitrogen bubbles which has great retention and loads of lacing.

Smell – The smell is not that impressive a light oak smell with tiny note of treacle.

Taste – Fairly typical of an Irish red on first impressions. A malty flavour up front but this soon gives way to a tangy almost bitter edge like roasted chestnuts. The malt is very light with a little toasted grain flavour and the hops are earthy and mild but hard to detect.

Mouthfeel - Dry but full in the mouth and mildly astringent.

Overall – Not bad at all. It may be an Irish red but the bitter edge means that this one has a lot in common with an English bitter. Not as nice as Kilkenny but still a reasonable drink by most standards.

Had this from a 12oz. bottle on Block Island.

This beer has an orange-red color. A lighter bodied version of the classic Red.
The head, almost completely white. The aroma doesn't have a great deal of strength to it, nor should it. This one goes a little too weak, though. The flavor brings out more, a nice base of caramel and toast with herbal leaf, a mineral note, and a little buttery biscuit.
The feel is about spot-on, herbal and mineral notes showing up in a semi-dry body as sweetness works to tone down the hard water element. It's crisp all the way and fairly smooth but boring. A session ale for sure.
