Appearance: The standard stout looks like, well, a standard stout. It pours a beautiful dark body. The head is light brown and foamy.
Smell: Smells of roasted malts with a hint of coffee and caramel.
Taste: It tastes pretty much like it smells. It starts with a deep roasted malt taste and then coffee is apparent in the aftertaste.
Mouth feel: This is perhaps the beer's weakest area. The standard "Extra Stout" does not possess the boldness found in many micro stouts. It has a disappointing watery finish.
Overall: This beer lacks the flavor complexity found in superior stouts. Having said that, it is still a tasty brew which I find myself coming back to time and again when I'm on a slight budget. It's not the best stout but its a good standby which can be found almost anywhere in the beer drinking world. If you like stouts, there should be no complaints.

Can poured into a pint glass
I love the cascade of taupe bubbles as they rise to the top of of this dark brown classic stout. A beautiful, thick creamy taupe lid caps the beer. Lacings on the side curtain the beer glass.
Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and sweetness
Smooth, sweet roasted malt taste. No bitter aftertaste but the linger of the malt.
The lack of carbonation is the surprise of this stout and makes it quite drinkable, glass, after glass.
What's there not to like about a well poured glass of Guinness Stout? Oh my goodness, my Guinness!

Not normally into higher end beers but this one is perfect. Head is thick and creamy. Goes down SMOOTH. It's served closer to room temp and tastes better that way. I've bought a 6 pack before but cold out of the fridge just isn't anywhere nearly as good. Best by far of all stouts I've ever had.
