Appearance: pitch plack. does not allow any light to pass through. It just dares you to drink it. Quickly diminishing tan head that leaves an average amount of lacing. Only the color was impressive, every other aspect was average.
Aroma: a vinous, fruity, and roasted smell. Molasses. No hops present. Almost smells like a muted version of a belgian ale, similar in that it is fruity and vinous, but different in that it is much more roasty.
Taste: Burnt coffee. Start is moderately roasted with a faint dark fruit sweetness that carries the roastiness through smoothly to a bitter, moderately dry finish. Leaves a bitter aftertaste that isn't unpleasant. Tastes similar to an American Stout, but only a little sweeter and weaker.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation. With all of the hype surrounding Guinness' thick mouthfeel, I was disappointed to find it too carbonated and thin for my taste. It wasn't significantly thin or carbonated, but it just wasn't what I expected.
Drinkability: Very easy. I had it on two different occasions. I consumed three of the twelve ounce bottles with drinking room to spare on the first night. The second night I had a pint and six ounce bottle that was sufficient for me. Not a heavy beer.
Notes: Well, my first encounter with Guinness is over and I must say that this beer does not live up to the hype surrounding it. It is a good beer to be sure, but it is not incredibly thick, heavy, or bitter. Is it a great beer? Not in my book it isn't. Is it a bad beer? Certainly not. This is definately a fallback beer for me. I need something with more flavor and more body. A respectable beer nonetheless. It is certainly better than Beamish, but it is nowhere near as good as Shakespeare Stout.

A proper Guinness is never wrong at any given moment, and the bottled version of this I got on my local pub was very good.
I think that this is a bit tastier than the regular Guinness Draught 4,2 ABV. But still I would very much like to try this on tap and not in a bottle.
