Very little aroma, pours a two-finger head of a tan color formed of mostly very small bubbles.
Dark ruby-red brown - appears black at first glance, but held up to a strong light source there is just enough light penetration to reveal its ruby slippers.
Solid malt character with enough hops to give it some zing. Meaty and robust with some coffee and toast notes. Not overly carbonated, but sufficient to keep the lacy edge head going, with some sticking to the glass as the volume recedes from consumption.
A notable stout to which others are often compared. This does not seem as rich though, as others I remember from years past. Perhaps the Canadian water has something to do with it, as this was brewed in New Brunswick.
