4.5% ABV. "Premium European style beer, craft brewed with pale ale malt and aromatic hops." Reviewed as a European pale ale. 500ml aluminum can with uninteresting label acquired as part of a Guinness variety box and served into a conical Pinthouse Pizza pint glass in low altitude Austin, Texas. Reviewed live. Expectations are above average given the brewery.

Served cold - straight from me fridge. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: No bubble show forms as it's poured.

Pours a two finger wide head of white colour. Nice creaminess and thickness. Good frothiness.

Body colour is a transparent translucent pale copper of average vibrance. Excellent clarity. Clean; floating yeast particles or sediment is visible. Inconsistent spotty lacing clings to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Head retention is nice - about 4 minutes.

Overall, it's a generally appealing appearance for a beer in this style, but it's far from unique or special. There are no overt flaws here.

Sm: My broken nose picks up nothing aside from some faint floral hop character and buttery malts. All apologies, lads. A very subdued aroma.

T/Mf: Has a fantastically creamy mouthfeel. It's also slightly buttery, which works well for this flavour profile. Mild floral hop character, buttery pale malts, a kiss of bread, and some faint caramel. I also pick up some corn adjunct mixed with some graininess.

Depth of flavour is quite low; this is a shallow beer. Below average duration and intensity of flavour. It's nicely balanced though, and has some nice flavour. Quite a cohesive build. Lacks intricacy, nuance, complexity, and subtlety, but I do like it for what it is. Just a simple sessionable pale ale with some nice flavours.

Light in body. There's not much weight on the palate, which keeps it refreshing. Smooth and wet. Good approachable presence on the palate.

Not oily, astringent, gushed, hot, or boozy.

Dr: Extremely drinkable. A sessionable pale ale from Guinness. It's far from their finest offering, but it's an easy drinking brew and I find it refreshing. I wouldn't recommend it to friends or go out of my way to buy it again, but it's a nice addition to the Guinness variety box.

Poured from a can into a pint glass.

Appearance: Pale amber color with a thin white head. No lacing.

Smell: Mild hops and citrus.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth light bodied. Taste of bitter hops and it has a strong metallic after taste, most likely from being in a can I assume.

Overall: It was ok, nothing special. I probably would not waste my money on this one again.

Appears a pale copper hue let's all kind of light through with a nice off white head flowing thick, the low alcohol and high aromatic hop offering adds to the allure for me, especially when it looks awesome and the lace is layered beautifully. Aroma has a clean green earthiness mild citrus notes with notes of freshly baked bread nothing revolutionary!!! I like it though a clean mild bitterness earthy dirty hops clean malts mild balanced finish, not overt sweetness just a clean drinking pale ale from across the pond. As I continue to smell this beer the citric hops play a bigger role than before especially as it warms a bit. Mouthfeel is clean bitter finish, medium to mild bodied with tame even carbonation I like this beer we need more IPAs with this sessionablility mind set. A different type of beer than I'm used to but regardless I'm happy to drink this beer especially in cans protected from the light and what not.

I tried this beer while on vacation in Ireland. My previous favorite beer was Viking and Tuoborg both Great Beers. This beer had a some what fruity taste. It was like I wasn't drinking beer at all. The prefect beer in my book. I highly recommend this beer for everyone.

Smithwick's Pale Ale

Notes: Deep gold in color. Frothy 1-fingered head holds well. Average lacing. Floral and fruity in the nose. Flavor: Fruity and floral. Sweetish grainy malt - honeyish. Grassy, herbal hops. Median bitterness. Finishes dryish with grassy, herbal and floral notes. Average, but well-made. Pale ale? Yes. That adds perspective... good example of the English style. Worth trying.

Smithwick's Pale Ale from Guinness pours out a light amber color. This Brew has a nice white head that sticks around. The smell is ok ,nothing bad at all. There is a lot flavor to this brew, but nothing bad at all. The beer itself goes down smooth. It is also really refreshing and enjoyable to drink. This brew reminds me of an American style brew. I will be buying this brew again.

Poured from a 14.9 oz. can. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some malts. Taste is malts, grains, refreshing, very light hops. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a little light for the style, but nonetheless a refreshing beer on a hot summer day.

From the 14.9 fl. oz can L3115GE001-07:55. Sampled on September 11, 2013 on a 92 degree humid day.

It pours pale yellow to golden with a quick lasting white fizzy head. Good clarity and low carbonation.

The aroma is a variety of caramel malts, mild earthy hops, grass, and butter.

The body is light, creamy and refreshing.

The taste had a slight graininess up front but then it was replaced by the malty character I picked up on the nose. Then there was this mild bitterness and clean hope finale. It had some pilsener qualities to it. I thought it was decent.
