Bomber into standard pint form Ninkasi. Room temp bottle poured into ice cold glass.
A: Good and dark with 3 fingers of rocky tan head. Pretty typical of Guiness. Doesn't scream "DRINK ME!" but certainly looks tasty. Leaves decent lacing.
S: Dark malt and a slight metallic smell reminds me of canned black olives. Bit of alcohol on the nose.
T: Much much much richer than Guiness Draft. Quite dry. The taste is similar to the nose but without the metallic. Very first note is a touch of alcohol, Dark malt hits after you take your lips from the glass, follows up with bitter hops that comes in two waves. First hop wave is quite aromatic, a little grassy and has a fresher taste than most dark beers. The second hop wave is the the bitterness, sits on the sides of the tongue as the drink goes down and reminds you that you just had a drink of beer. Alcohol warming follows up. Better than Draft.
M: Medium body, feels a lot like Draft but even smoother. Enjoyable for sure.
O: I like this beer. Typical of Guiness, a good dry stout but nothing to write home about. But this has a richer fuller flavor than Draft making it a better stout. Sometimes you are just in the mood for a Guiness, this is the one I will go to when I have that feeling.
