Poured into nonic from 12 oz bottle.
A - Poured an opaque black with two fingers of large bubbled head that disappates relatively quickly leaving solid lacing throughout the glass.
S - Malt forward with the scents of roasted smokiness, a hint of coffee, and a chocolate kick that smells almost bittersweet from a slightly hoppiness underneath.
T - Wow, definitely an improvement upon the original (especially since it doesn't have some stupid artificial widget). Malt forward with heavily roasted/smoked character. A bit of coffee flavor, with a finish that leaves a very bittersweet dark chocolate feel.
M - Not as silky as the nitro-widget version, but still fairly so. There's a boozy sort of bite to it that warms the drinker.
O - Overall a solid stout for a solid stout fan. Not among the best of the best, but certainly worthy of consideration, and after all, it is produced by the brewery that virtually invented the style.
