A - Pours an incredibly dark brown, as close to pitch black as brown can get. Beers easily will form a 1.5 finger head on its own. Head is extremely creamy with some thick clustering, looks like the head of a root beer float. Head is a light tan.
S - Definitely has an alcohol presence. After letting it warm up a bit, much more inviting aromas are present such as black coffee, light chocolate and even the presence of dates.
T - Not for a first time stout drinker, but a DAMNED good stout. A sweetness, comparable to dates shines through once you've allowed it to warm up a bit, there is still quite an alcohol presence as well as it's bitterness, but it isn't overpowering.
O - An excellent stout, but I feel it would be enjoyed more by a seasoned stout drinker rather than a newcomer to the world of stouts.
V - So worth it. You'll notice that there is Guinness Extra Stout and Guinness *Foreign* Extra Stout, these both typically run at the same price, but wow is the foreign variant so much better, it's flavors and aromas are much deeper and complex and quite frankly if you're paying the same amount any way, then it is entirely a good value.
