11.2oz bottle. Can't decipher bottling date exactly- L0232GF002 suggests 8/20/2010. Poured into an unlabeled snifter 5/14/2014.
A- Dark, opaque nearly black body. One finger offwhite head with good retention. Eventually drops down into a medium sized collar. Small spots of lacing along the glass. For the most part, appears like a big stout.
S- Dark chocolates. Tons of dark fruits- plums, fig, even hints of chocolate-covered cherries.
F- Roast malt, dark chocolate character, dark fruits- figs, plums, subtle tart cherry that comes nowhere near medicinal, some earth. Very cleanly executed, complex and interesting. Certainly above average.
M- Medium bodied, good carbonation. Slightly resinous mouthfeel that honestly reminds me of having dark chocolates melt in your mouth. A chocolate-covered cherry finish that is slightly tart but actually accompanied by a nice bitter earthiness that brings it all together.
O- This is a very good stout that is full in flavour and mouthfeel. I am really enjoying the subtle but still hard to miss chocolate covered cherries here. Very glad this is quite easy to find on the shelves around here, even if the price is a little bit more than I'd expect.
