Finally trying the (better) version of Guiness, excited to try the Foreign Extra! Purchased at Beers of the World in Henrietta.
Pours the typical inky black, with a foamy, mountainous 2 inch head. Lots of lacing down the glass. The heads last for a while as a creamy film on top of the beer.
Smells like chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, and a bit of smoke.
This tastes pretty great, honestly. Creamy, vanilla richness, with a good amount of chocolate and coffee malt flavor. Quite roasty as well. This is miles ahead of the regular Guinness Draught, night and day honestly. There is some roasty bitterness that keeps everything naturally dry.
Rich, creamy, fairly thick body that coats the mouth very well. Awesome. So drinkable. Low carbonation.
This is a revelation, for the longest time I thought Guinness was garbage until this beer. Now I want to try some of the other export versions.
