A must if you are at an Irish pub. The Flagship beer of Ireland and the leader of all souts, in most people's minds. This beer is just a joy to watch. After a pour I just love to watch it cascade up to a creamy brown head that sticks around until you finish the glass. Dark black in color, you can;t see through this, as it should be with any stout. When you sip it make sure to slurp a little of the head the creamyness give the beer a nice smooth start. The beer finishes with a slightly bitter aftertaste. But overall, the beer is not very complex and I prefer some American stouts over this one. I know that is sacrilige but remember, I still love this one.
The best out of a Nitro tap. It should take the bar tenderat least five minutes to poor this one with a couple settling pauses in order to get the glass full. If it is with you in 40 seconds beware. Guiness has made great advances in its Nitro can and bottling methods but stick with the tap on this one, it is the only way to go.
Serving type: nitro-tap
