A: Near black with ruby hints with a one finger cream-colored dense foam head. Nice clinging after each sip.
S: Some roasted malt and slight metallic hops.
T: Thin with mild roasted malts with a slight hint of earthy hops.
M: Thin but creamy with a crisp dry finish,
D: There are plenty of local Irish stouts and Beamish that I prefer but an easy drinker that is without a doubt sesionable.

Pours from the can a delightful frothy dark brown, thanks to the gas widget. The classic dry taste and rich mouthfeel. Good head retention. The taste is not quite developed as the ones fresh from the draft, but St. James Gate is thousands of miles away.
Letting it warm on the table before tapping the can is best ....30 minutes for a cool room, much less when warmer, though I don't care for Guinness on hot days.

Drank three on draft at McMullens''s in Las Vegas. In the glass it looks crimson brown with a nice dollop of tan head on top that sticks around until you start to do damage. The smell is some malt, and what smells like creek water running over rocks, memories drawn from my childhood. The taste is roasted malt, faint chocolate, grain, and a little bitter, dry, and thin. Really not much going on there, but it's easy enough to drink once you've attuned your palette to the taste and relative lack of body. When you're with the Irish on St. Paddy's you drink what they drink but otherwise I'll take a pass.

Pours creamy tan that gently releases under itself into a dark beer. Nose is creamy as is the taste. Smooth drinking, easy beer. Not great, but not horrible

One of the first beers I bought and drank legally about a decade ago. Almost certainly is the reason for my affection towards darker beers. I don't know if it tasted so good because I was drinking it in contravention to my school's rules against alcohol on campus, or if it was really that good. What I do know, is that it's one of the smoothest beers I've ever drank, with heavy chocolate notes. I should come back to this beer sometime.

In the absence of Foreign Extra Stout I take no real issue falling back on Guinness Draft Stout. It is a good smelling and tasting beer.
