This beer is a really dark and heavy beer. At least it was that way for myself. I enjoyed this beer, but it is also one of those beers that I have to be in the mood for at the same time. The aroma was a good aroma. Their is a lot of head with this beer. Wich I do not mind that much. But for a dark beer it was not that bad.

Served on draft at 43 degrees F (6 degrees C), using 35PSI of beer gas mix (75% nitrogen, 25% CO2), through stout faucet with restrictor plate.
Appearance (4.5/5): Initial pour generates a very active cascade of bubbles which fall downward along perimeter of the glass. As the cascade of bubbles completes, a very dense head of small nitro bubbles form a long lasting cream colored head. Body extremely dark, with no light transmittance through the glass.
Smell (3.5/5): Sweet malt and roasted aromas dominate. Pleasant, but not overwhelming.
Taste (4/5): Initial taste is bitterness on tip of tongue. Bitterness subsides as beer moves to back of mouth, where a strong but balanced roasted flavor prevails. Earthy aftertaste yields to delicate bitter flavor.
Mouthfeel (3.5/5): Guiness’ use of beergas makes for a unique experience for both head and mouthfeel. On first sip, the upper lip pushes through the dense cream head to discover a velvety mouthfeel. Carbonation levels are low, making this a very session able brew.
Overall (3.9/5): Captivating cascade of bubbles, delicious flavor, luscious mouthfeel.
