Pours a incredibly deep brown color, a shade or two away from black with a thick, cream head that hangs around for the duration. Lacing is minimal and carbonation is hard to detect, but present.
Very welcoming although a bit boring. Sweet molasses and toffee tug at your nose hairs. Faint hint of vanilla.
A big mouthful of molasses. Dull coffee notes and bitter cocoa.
Light body borders watery, however, it's a bit chewy but incredibly smooth. Carbonation is light. Crisp, semi-dry finish.
I'm appreciate this beer... It doesn't excel in any one area but it's easy to drink, it's light, and it has character. And that's a lot more than can be said about a lot of stouts out there. Cheers.

Appearance: Looks amazing. Thick creamy tan head that lasts forever. Appears black in the glass but slightly translucent with some red noted as well. Unfortunately, looks can be decieving.
Smell: Roasted malt, but its very mild and I'm not picking up much else.
Taste: Same as the nose. Roasted malt flavor, slightly bittersweet, but zero hops.
Mouthfeel: How can a beer that looks so good in the glass be so watery? Thin and boring.
Overall: I'll get this once and a while if there's no other options on tap, because this is still better than the BMC's of the world. Not by much though. I would like to try this in Ireland sometime to compare.
