Had at a party at a friends house.

A: Poured black with an impressive head formation, typical of Guinness. Really nice head retention and lacing down the sides.

S: A little bit of roasted malt, but really not a whole lot going on. Slight hint of cream.

T: Similarly unremarkable. A little bit of chocolate and cream, but not much in terms of depth.

M: Medium bodied and creamy, the nitro is doing something I suppose.

O: It was the best choice where I was, but that doesn't make it great. Might drink it again if it was the best choice, but then again, I might just go water.

As an Irish traditional musician, I don't think I have to say that I have had this beer many, MANY times. This particular review is from nitro-tap.

A: Here's that 'perfect pour'. Say what you will about Guinness; it's a damn sexy looking stout. However, bartenders, don't fuck it up with that shamrock crap. That plastic paddy shit is annoying as hell.

S: Looks are where Guinness shines and everything after that is weak. Almost no smell: weak roast and even weaker hop bitterness.

T: Again...weak. The dark chocolate flavour of a stout is there, but it is so subtle that you actually have to look for it when you drink.

D: Mouthfeel is perhaps my least favorite part about Guinness. The nitro initially feels good and then goes flat in your mouth. Drinkability is good in a 'no flavour-easy drinking' sense.

Overall: You've got to respect it for being better than the garbage that is usually available, but Guinness is no great stout. Its just weak and lazy. I did an experiment with Guinness a while ago and that can be seen here: http://beeradvocate.com/forum/read/3601215. Otherwise, Guinness is, for now, most of our 'only other option beer'. It is what it is.

I get this on tap often, my local dive has nothing worth drinking but this, and it pairs with my Fish n Chips on those nights, this is from a bottle at home.
Looks near black, very dark brown, initially there was a thick cap but it subsided and left no lacing.
The aroma is light and of watery roasted malts.
The flavors are also light watery roasted malts primarily, the body of this beer is disappointing compared to the nitro version, which adds some creaminess and body to help it out. there really is no favorable characteristics to this version, only drink the nitro version.

We know it won't be crowned king of stouts, but to be honest, I kind of like Guinness.

If I'm looking for a nice, low-calorie beer, Guinness is what I turn to.

It's dark, but if you hold it up to the light, it's slightly translucent. The smell gets me nothing but a hint of malt, and the taste is a simple, very slightly creamy, little beer. The mouthfeel gets interesting with the nitro carbonation, but otherwise, you pretty much know what to expect.

Though it's always fun to show off to your 'liteweight' friends when you can slam two Guinness and still have room to drink more. I bet they've never even heard of Russian Imperial Stouts.

Overall, you get what you expect, and I guess there's nothing wrong with that.

Sampled on November 8, 2011. The pour is a well carbonated dark amber to brown with a generous, long-lasting foamy head. Aroma of nutty malts and molasses. The body falls into the light to medium range but it stays together while swirling. The taste is sweetly malted and dryly hopped. I have had this in the nitro can and the bottle and I think I prefer it from the nitro can. One thing that you can say is that it is always the same no matter when or where you buy it and there is something to be said for consistancy.

Had this so many times before, now it's time to0 review it. Poured from a Nitro can into a standard pint glass...

A - Pours just like you would expect it to! Fomy, light mocha color head forms and slowly transforms to a dark brown, chocolate color. The body is a mix of dark brown and extremely dark reds.

S - Light roasted malts mixed with some very subdued aromas of coffee and chocolate. Not much else to remark on.

T - Bready, chocolatem and some coffe stand out the most. Slightly dry and rosty midway through. No flavor overpowers any others and they all are kind of mixing around quietly in the background.

M - Creamy and smooth. Lighter bodied beer with just a bit of gurth. Light carbonation makes for a smooth, velvet like feeling.

O - Everyone says it's like drinking a loaf of bread, and I used to be one of them. That was before I got into the heavier RIS's that I;e fallen in love with. A nice beer to order at an Irish pub, but I wouldn't go out of my way to try this one again.
