look: 4.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Poured the 11.2 fl oz bottle into a beer mug glass. Pitch black in the glass with a two finger thick tan colored head that has good retention. Slight lacing. Low to few bubbles. Opaque and dark.

Smell is very low. Roasted malts.

Taste is just very standard but very toned down. Malts, roasted flavor. Somewhat bitter and a good dry finish.

Mouth feel is watery. I drank two really quick. Very light feel, smooth and easy to drink. Low on carbonation.

Very easy to drink but does not feel like you are drinking anything which is a bad thing for such an acclaimed stout.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Pours pitch black with a thick, very fine, tan head. Good retention and lacing. Smell is almost nonexistent, very light malt notes. Taste is slightly bitter from the malt character, not much too it, slightly alcoholic in the finish. Medium carbonation, light body for a stout. Mouthfeel is watery. Overall, not my favorite by far. There just is not much to this beer, and it does not fit well into the style.

Not even sure why I am reviewing this. It is simple Guinness. 11.2oz bottle with opaque plastic shrink wrap label to keep 100% of light out. At least it can't skunk. Drunk from standard pint glass.

A: slightly agressive pour gets 2fingers of that delicious looking frothy rocky mocha head that makes regular Guinness so appealing. Almost completley opaque, a little light gets through when I hold to the light. A little deep mahogany color. A thick cap formed that just won't die leaving good lacing. It looks delicious as hell, but it is supposed to.

S: roasty grains and a that slightly off smell from being a pasturized stout. Some dark fruit notes a bit raisney.

T: slightly more bitter than the nose hints at. Leaves a bit of bitter on the tongue but not bad. Roasty malt of course, it tastes like a stout I guess. That pasturized funk shines through a bit. not bad but not amazing.

M: kinda thin for a stout. Leaves the mouth feeling dry. Unimpressed.

O: this makes me remember why Forign Extra and plain old Extra Stout have made me jaded and won't get Guinness on tap unless I am in a crappy bar where my options are Budweiser or Guinness. all in all I am left wanting but you know, one of the best macros I know of.
