Served in a tumbler. Poured a large white head which shrank down to a 1/8" layer across the surface of the beer with lacing all over the glass as I drank it. The color is a golden yellow with some hints of orange and brown - definitely on the pale side. Lots of carbonation popping up the whole time which was nice to look at, but I guess I gravitate towards darker colors.
The smell is a little bit on the bready side, and something else. I can't quite place it. Not bad, but not really impressive to me either.
Taste is good though, probably because it went perfect with the meal - Welsh Rarebit. And in fact - of all the Irish/UK/Welsh beers we've tried in the Rarebit, this one really makes a good sauce for the dish. Along with going well in the meal, you get a refreshing lager with a small hint of bitterness at the end.
Mouthfeel is smooth but with just enough carbonation to stay interesting.
Drinkability - quite good, and my opinion is that this beer is best for meals. It's something that goes really well to wash down a meal. I should probably try it by itself sometime to see how it is, but every time I've had it, I've had it with a meal (both on tap and in bottle) and I've felt it is a good part of the meal.

Pours a clear light gold and leaves decent lacing. Head ain't bad, quick fade. Smell is ok. Some malt and grassy notes. A bit of earth and pepper. Taste is mild malt sweetness. Earth and grass hops. Clean finish with an light tang. Feel is thin and watery with mild and smooth carbonation. Overall a shadow of what is was twenty years or so ago. Sigh.
