Based on a review from 2013. Had it from a nitro can.
A: pours dark, ruby red body with a thick, reddish tan head with excellent retention and lacing
S: sweet, somewhat malty smell; still smells like a Guinness with some roasted notes
T: sweet, subtle roast taste; decent
M: a little thin, but still pretty smooth
D: ok mouthfeel and taste combo; ok beer overall, nothing too impressive

What a time to be alive, guinness making a stout that isn't really a stout when you delve into it. A middle of the road brown color with some of the thinnest body you'll ever see in a "stout". This is a little bit bigger than Newcastle. Yikes. It does create a big 4/5" cream colored head. Aroma of mostly nutty lighter malt, not a heavy roast presence. Again, this is a very light bodied "stout" and while not as apparent as the appearance, the nose gives away plenty of clues it isn't big like that in the first place.

Taste, well, I have always rated the regular guinness the lowest in terms of taste and feel, and this one is even weaker in those departments. Comes off with more in common with a red or brown ale than it does porter or stout. Who is this target market? The carbonation is low and makes more sense in a much bigger beer, but here, it only contributes to the mild brown ale feel of everything. The guinness variants are all over the place, I really dug the 250th anniversary issue, but then ones like this are just difficult to wrap my head around. I don't expect to see this one return.

Appearance: Mahogany brown in color, with a large, dense, and quite creamy off-white head, and very thick, utterly glass-coating lacing.

Aroma: Moderately roasted malt, light caramel, some nuts, and very slight herbal hops.

Taste: The taste begins with dark caramel, toasted malts, and an undercurrent of nuts, which carries throughout. The dark caramel and toasted nuts persist throughout the taste, and a little bitter cocoa appears along the way. Finishes with a modest note of herbal hop bitterness and lingering roasted malts.

Mouth feel: Very smooth, soft, and pleasant, velvety to the palate.

Drinkability/notes: Very pleasant and drinkable, quite nice. Its hard to imagine a more appropriate Halloween (or Samhain) ale.

Presentation: Packaged in a fourteen point nine ounce nitro can with a nitro capsule, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice,

Poured from nitro can. Pretty, thick Guinness head with nice cascading fizz. Reddish-brown hue. Some roasted malt aroma, but not much going on. Taste is weak malts and hardly anything else. Entirely forgettable.
