Large, clean, bright store. Reasonable selection of craft brews but not spectacular and not great prices.

If you're looking for bottles in Escondido, go to Holiday if you want awesome selection. Go to Jimbo's or Trader Joes if you want some great local brews at better prices.

This was my one stop shop for wine, beer, and alcohol for a long time before I realized, especially in the beer department, other liquor stores have them beat hands down.

They carry your common and international brands of beer, but as for craft brews, only average. You will find ample supplies of Stone, Rogue, and Dogfish Head. Great breweries I agree, but for the smaller guys, usually none.

If you like wine in addition to beer, then I do recommend this place. Hard to beat prices with a solid selection, plus many of the wines have reviews making your selection process easier.

If you live in Escondido and crave beer, head over to Holiday Wine Cellar, you will be pleasantly surprised.

So this was my last stop before i hopped back North on the 15 and headed home, I had just filled my growlers at Stone and was hoping to find that the Bevmo's in SD county were somehow different than the ones 150 miles to the northwest. There is nothing wrong with a Bevmo, in fact i think they are good stores and i shop at the one in my town all the time. It's just that i was hoping for some SD beers i haven't seen at my Bevmo store like Sculpin, Alpine, or Red Poppy to be there, but no such luck.

They carried basically the exact same stock as every other bevmo i have been to. A large selection of great yet fairly easy to acquire craft beers, a large selection of German and Belgian imports. I had a quick chat with one of the clerks, grabbed a few bombers and headed home. They didn't have some of the SD gems i was looking for but a good store none the less, i won't go out of my way to visit the Escondido Bevmo again but I will continue shopping at my local one for sure.

This BevMo was across a few parking lots and a street from the hotel I stayed at when I visited Stone. Why I am the one to enter this place is beyond me...

As I mentioned, I stopped in after my trip to stone, just to see what I could see and get some insight into what beers are readily available. The selection I found was very nice with a ton of bombers stretching up and down a few isles along with coolers of six-packs. German and Belgian brews were well represented along with a few choice east coast brews. About a third of the craft section was all local, with most of the brands being recognizable to a guy in Philly. Nothing to sneeze at here. It would take sometime to get tired of this selection.

The crowning achievement of my visit here came when I peered back, deep into an empty section in the Ballast Point and discovered a long lost Sculpin. I brought this up front and the dude behind the register seemed shocked. We chatted a bit about beer, which made me think highly of at least one employee, but it was too bad I had to go to the register to have this conversation.
