Definitely a decent beer store. Its not a huge liquor store so to see an entire aisle and several cases filled with craft beer is excellent. Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, Stone, Avery, Troegs, Great Divide, Bear Republic, Smuttynose, and some international beers as well.

I haven't seen many places to mix-a-six around here, so was excited to check that selection out. Its not huge, but fairly diverse. Definitely some not great items like old summer ales. Plus the bottles on the bottom shelves were very dusty. However, I was pleased with my 6-pack for $10.50.

One of the guys working came over and tried to give me some help. Normally I am happy to discuss beer with folks, but his attitude came across as rather condescending (perhaps because I am female) and he also came across as boastful about their mix-six selection which was decent, but not great.

However, that was just 1 interaction with 1 guy working there. I'd still go back for their selection, although maybe not their mix-a-six selection.

This store has an incredible selection. Period. Unlike bigger liquor stores, the beer section (a third of the store) is not littered with mass produced beers. If you want a serious look at what the craft beer industry offers, visiting Granite Liquors is a must.

Love that the rare release section limits purchases to one or two so really anyone wanting to access limited and unusual beers is able to. John is extremely knowledgeable and super helpful if you can catch him.

Prices are consistent with the market. This is my go to beer store.

Fantastic beer guy, his recommendations have been stellar. Look for the beard for advice on beer. I stop by whenever I'm in town. Love the 1 per person shelf in the back. Impressive selection of sours and limited release beers. New England regional beers are well represented, as are imports.

This is probably my favorite liquor store in the Boston area. I live in southie and typically take a long lunch on Friday to stock up for the weekend. Fantastic beer selection. The beer manager knows his stuff and will give great recommendations. I usually hit up their limited release 'one per customer' shelf first as it usually has some hard to find beers.

I try and visit this store weekly. It is crunched into a plaza next to shaws. They have a great selection and very large compared to the size of the store. They get limited releases and usually limit purchases to 1 or 2 bottles each to share the love. The staff is not very helpful which might be disappointing for some. However, I have not met their beer manager who I hear is a great guy and very knowledgable. Prices are typically reasonable.

I visited Granite Liquors while on vacation for a wedding on the cape.

A - On first appearance, the place looks like a typical hole in the wall liquor store. I had thoughts on approaching the front door that I was at the wrong place based on the previous reviews. How could this place possibly have a good or decent beer selection? Wow, was I wrong! It was AMAZING!!!

Q - All of the beer was displayed clearly and appeared to be all up to date.

S - As an outsider in the community, I was still given exceptional service. I forget the name of the beer guy for the location, but not only did he give great recommendations, but he even threw in a free beer of a beer he suggested I try.

S - The selection was amazing! They had everything you could think of available through distribution for that area. Just a phenomenal selection of beer.

V - I felt all of the beers were priced appropriately. Nothing was outrageous, and in fact, some of the beers were cheaper than expected.

Overall, this is one, if not thee, best beer stores I have ever been to. The service was top shelf and the selection was world class. I cant recommend this store enough!!!

What a great place this is... it's impossible to give enough kudos to a seemingly ordinary liquor store thatr excels grealty in both service and selection. If you have a question in liquor, anything from absynthe to zambuca you'd find your answer here. A full aisle of microbrews. I specificaly asked for Ithica Flower Power to be stocked and now it's here, and they remember I'm the guy who requested it. A great place.

This has become my go-to store after a referral from a friend. Plenty of parking and very unassuming from the outside. Granite has a phenomenal selection of craft beers from all over the world. Be prepared to take your time and carefully browse shelf after shelf. You never know what you might find. They also have a great limited release shelf. Not sure what you're looking for? Just asked John, the Bearded Beer Guy and he'll point you in the right direction based on your tastes and interests. He has forgotten more about craft beers (and wines and liquors) then most of us will ever learn. This place is unrivaled If you are looking for craft beers on the south shore. I encourage you to search it out and make a visit

If you live on the South Shore of MA this should be your first stop to find a rare beer. From the outside it looks like any other strip mall liquor store. Once inside and you find the more than double aisle of craft beer you will understand that this isn't your grandfathers liquor store. A hugely diverse and almost overwhelming selection of craft beer that will make you dizzy your first time. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the prices are average for craft beer. They pretty much have it all.

Unassuming from the outside this store next door to shaws will blow your mind. the largest selection of beers I have ever seen from my favorite Belgians to local beers they have it all. John the beer manager is a wealth of knowledge and has turned me on to some great beers i would have never tried on my own. If you are going to shop anywhere on the south shore i suggest Granite. Worth a drive from anywhere of a stop on your way down to the cape.

I end up buying a lot of beer on the South Shore, and this has become my go-to stop. Very good selection, helpful staff, great stop if you are in the area or taking 3 down to the Cape. The only thing I would mention is that the drawback of being the best on the South Shore is that some limited releases seem to go extraordinarily quickly. People know that Granite Liquors will tend to get those limited releases and that if a first stop. Then again, I do the same thing. When I am looking for a rare beer, I am usually at Granite first.

This store is my go-to place for those hard to find beers. They carry most of the major brands you would expect plus some other hidden gems. It's sad how much time I spend just walking up and down the craft beer isle, swooning over the expensive bottles I will never own. All in all, most of the stuff here is competitively priced with the rest of the package stores in the area, and some items are actually cheaper here! Great selection of Belgian and American sours. I've seen Jolly Pumpkin, 3Fonteine, Cuvee Rene, Timmermans, Cascade Sours, Alligash barrel beers.

Nestled away on a strip of stores in a plaza anchored by a Shaw's Supermarket is this hidden gem.

Driving by, it looks lime a small, dirtball liquor store. Those perceptions are put to rest upon entering. The premiere stuff is in the far back, highlighted by the "green carpet" specials on the shelf, which contain the best selections. Aside from that, it is arguably the best variety of breweries in the state.

The staff is always willing to assist you with any questions and I've had no complaints. The better stuff carries a high price tag, but that's the same for any store. Definitely a fairly priced establishment.

In a nutshell: If you want craft beer on the South Shore, this is the place.

Whenever I am in the area I always stop by this store. Driving by one would assume it is your typical liquor store next to a grocery store, but this place is far from your typical liquor store. It is not the neatest or cleanest looking store, but who cares with the selection they have got here.

There is a huge selection of imports, local, and US craft. The selection here in unmatched in the South Shore. I'm from Cape Cod, and no store on or near it can touch this place in overall quality. Beer is roughly organized by country so it is easy to find what you are looking for. Everything is well priced and cheaper than the other stores I am familiar with.

John, the bearded guy, knows his stuff and is really friendly. He won't mind helping you at all, and will give you some good discounts too when you are buying a lot. The rest of the staff are nice and know a good thing or two about craft as well.

Coming from the Cape this place is awesome. It makes the rest of the South Shore and the Cape look like chump change. Unfortunately this store is an hour drive from my house, but it is definitely worth driving up.

This is the best place in the South Shore to get beer, and maybe even the whole state. My husband really loves beer and this is his favorite store too. He will find excuses to go here and I don't mind because it's great. Everything is well organized all over the store. The service is better than anywhere else. If you've made a few visits, they'll probably call you by name. John knows beer well and listens to what his customers wants, he takes good care of them. I don't know everything about beer, but according to my husband their selection is top knotch, and why would he lie? Worth it to go here for all the categories listed above.

Really unassuming place next to Shaw's that I had been by a hundred times until I saw what glowing reviews it gets here. The selection is second to none in the Boston area, with an enormous full length aisle of bombers and a treasure trove of 6 packs, both cold and warm in the back. The help here, especially for a relative newcomer to craft beer is wonderful. The bearded guy that runs the beer department is both helpful and engaging. As far as selection goes, some of the stuff I have seen here that I haven't seen many other places are Red Racer IPA and Pale Ale, Port High Tide...and it was the first place I saw Baxter's stuff. Prices are reasonable, about what you would pay anywhere else.

My only complaint is that while they do have a clearance shelf of past date stuff, I've seen some still on shelves and, as with any store, check your dates on those bottles that have them (if they apply). Overall, a great store that is worth the drive from in town to stock up now and then.

A craft beer lover's paradise! The store is clean and organized, most bottles and sections are labelled clearly, and the service is impeccable!

Incredible selection of Belgians, other imports, New England brews, and West Coast specialties. And guess what...picked up a 4-pack of Founders Breakfast Stout that they had in the back! They keep rare and special beer in the back to keep the poachers and traders at bay. The guy with the red beard is one of the most helpful and knowledgeable beer guys I have ever talked to at a liquor store.

Most bottles are clean and in good shape. There were a few dusty ones that hadn't been touched in a while. They had a lot of Red Racer IPA and SN Estate to name a few of the standouts. I'm surprised the Estate hasn't been snatched up because it's so delicious and it's a fresh hop beer, but it's pretty expensive no matter where you find it. The prices at Granite are fantastic!

In conclusion, there isn't a better place on the South Shore to buy craft beer and I'd say it's up there with Julio's in Westborough. Although Julio's has a larger selection, it's also a much bigger store and the service at Granite puts it on the same level. I was given the owner's business card and was told to call/email any time I'm looking for something special. Very impressed. Plus, The Union Brewhouse is just down the street so stop in there as well!

Granite Liquors has got to be "Beer Heaven". Each time I stop in There is always something new added to the vast selection of quality beers on hand.

Whether it's something for the "gang" or something special to share with family & friends, you can find it here.

The biggest impression is that they listen to their customers and do all they can to bring in product that's new & exciting.

Recently John brought in Boulevard Brewing Company's Smokestack Series. Fantastic line of quality beers.

Granite Liquors' Management & Staff have hit another home run.

Best package store on the South Shore bar none! John and his crew will go out of their way to help you find what you're looking for, or suggest something new to try. Terrific selection of hard to find stuff. (If you're a Belgian Sour fan, this is YOUR place!) I always end up buying way more than I went in for, but will usually get discounts on mixed selections. Check out the selection of 5 litre kegs in the back. Only place I've seen Schlenkerla not in those dinky bottles!!!

Plus they always have the best tunes playing for your shopping pleasure.

A TRUE GEM!!!

As noted in other reviews, while Granite may look like a crappy strip mall packie next to a grocery store, looks are deceiving. They offer an extensive selection of beers and often have hard-to-find stuff on the shelf. The prices are right where they should be, and they often will discount mixed cases of bombers-a nice touch.

One caveat-they often allow older, out-of-code beer to linger on the shelf. Unlike other places, they will act upon this issue if brought to their attention, but still one should always check for bottling dates when buying IPAs and other styles that are not suitable for aging.

That said, you often find aged stouts and old ales that are in their prime, and can be reasonably assured that they have been treated well during their time at Granite.

Nice, helpful folks behind the counter, too. I stop by whenever I'm in the neighborhood.

This is a very cool craft beer store down in Weymouth, MA on Route 53. Stop by if in the area to check out this place.

The store is split into two, alcohol and wine on the left, and all craft beer and normal beer on the right and in the back. Everything is well organized and somewhat organized together based on region and/or country. If you can't find something John or somebody else can give you a hand.

The quality of beer this is great. They do great volume, so the beer is fresh and doesn't sit aorund for too long. You can even make your own six packs and buy a mystery case of singles. I have had scored on some good beers in those cases for a reasonable case price. They even have hard to find Belgium and Northern European beers too that you can't anywhere else in the area.

The service in the store is good. John is a very knowledgeable beer consultant for the store and has brought in beers that you can't find anywhere else in the area. He knows a lot about beers from everywhere around the world and get something particular if you are looking for it.

Since they do great volume, they have the advantage of offering beers at reasonable prices that are one of the best in the whole area.

This place is a little gem in the Shaw's plaza of Weymouth that is worth the visit. It is extremely hard to figure out what I want to buy sometime due to the great selction they have.

As a recent convert to the world of exceptional beer, I've been searching many local package stores for beers I've read about here on BA. I've combed the reviews, and discovered many terrific write-ups of Granite Liquors in Weymouth. My report will reflect that they are all indeed true!

The bearded beer guy was very nice to talk with, and was willing to offer advice without being pushy or condescending. I was prepared with my list, based on BA A to A+ graded beers. I was able to check out with La Fin Du Monde, Samuel Smith Taddy Porter, Ommegang Abbey Ale, and Stone Imperial Russian Stout. I could not be happier. I also mentioned BA to the bearded beer guy, and he was glad to hear it, and he was suitably happy with my selection of beers. He told me to call anytime and he would be happy to order or attempt to locate whatever beers he could for his customers.

What more could a novice beer geek ask for? A+!

Granite Liquors is not only the best liquor store in Weymouth, but the best liquor store on the South Shore. I have lived in Weymouth, Quincy, Hingham and Marshfield and have searched for decent places to by beer and none of them can compete with the selection and prices that Granite offers.
John "The Bearded Beer Guy" knows his stuff when it comes to beer, wine and liquor. I love Belgian beers and he always has the shelves stocked. Granite also offers tastings and John is always sure to pull out a beer that you haven't tried. The staff is also knowledgeable about the beers they put on their shelves.
I also enjoy good bourbon and Granite does carry quality bourbon. I can also pick up a nice bottle of wine when my wife and I are cooking a good meal. John is always right on when I ask him to recommend a bottle of wine for whatever meal we are cooking.

Cheers!!! to Granite and John!!!!

I've recently tossed my hat into the world of beer trading and decided to expand my already lengthy list of local beer stores. I happened upon Granite Package Store after reading various reviews on Beer Advocate. Review after review of A's peaked my interest so I decided to make the trip up there one day. I entered the store with great anticipation, making my way to the back where I assumed the beer section was located. There I found a number of coolers with a large shelf in front stacked with various imports and domestic stuff. The selection was impressive but nothing I hadn't seen at other comparably sized stores.

After a quick meander of the cooler area, my eyes happened upon absolute gloriousness. I had somehow completely missed an entire store length aisle full of nothing but some of the finest ales and lagers one can find from around the world. Jolly Pumpkin, White Birch, Avery, North Coast, Firestone Walker, Founders, the list went on and on. They were stocked with basically every Nogne and Mikkeller possible. I don't recall seeing so many sours in one place. In addition to everyone's usual favorites and sought afters, they have things I'd never even heard of or couldn't find anywhere else. I've been to super market sized liquor stores...I'd choose Granite over them any day.

I can honestly say their prices can't be beat. Jolly Pumpkin usually runs me 2-3 dollars more in other stores. And this kind of price disparity can be found with most of the selection.

Their incredible selection is coupled with phenomenal customer service. Kevin, the store manager, was very attentive and personable. Despite being more of a wine guy, he was pretty knowledgeable about his beer. John, their beer guy, arrived about an hour into my stay and was exactly the same way. He can basically answer any question you have and knows his stock top to bottom. Both of them seemed to really love what they do and are happy to talk about it with you.

After a good two hours, I walked out with some valuable information, some incredible brews, and my new favorite beer store.
