Shared at peg's.
dark cherry red in color. Forms a minimal fizzy head. No retention, no lacing. Aroma is very raspberry, like raspberry syrup. Sweet, marshmallowy, like something out of a breakfast cereal. Taste is sweet, raspberry, medicinal, herbal, and cherry cough syrup. It's a bit odd, simultaneously sweet and inviting while also being medicinal and tannic. Full bodied. Lower carbonation. Lightly syrupy. Interesting.

'12 bottle poured into flute.

Smell is of deep raspberry and only that. Exactly like the Raspberry Tart desert that bakery/pastry shops sell.

Pours a deep, deep red and mahogany color with very little to no head

Flavor mostly one note, Raspberry, Raspberry Raspberry. Alcohol mixed in but it settles well. It's not a complex beer but it has a powerful, full bodied flavor of Raspberries. It would make a very nice desert beer most definitely.

Solid brew, would like to see how it ages. Maybe with age the Raspberry will become less dominate and more of the subtle notes it covers will blossom.

Type: on tap ~5 oz
Glass: flute
From: kuhnhenn's
Price: 15

Appearance: dark dark red almost black but pretty clear

Smell: extra sweet raspberry. Strong alcohol

Taste: along the same lines of the nose. The raspberry sweetness and alcohol play very well together for a well balanced but not complex beer

Mouthfeel: heavy, warm, thick, smooth, but I wish it was a more chewy

Overall: greet beer. Wonderfully strong and warming but at the price I could find much better. Probably will not have again due to the price

6 oz. bottle poured into a snifter. 2007 bottle.

Appearance - Thick sludgy pond water. No carbonation. Slight red tinge to the brown.

Smell - Milk chocolate and raspberry. Strong alcohol. Smells like a raspberry chocolate candy.

Taste - Much stronger raspberry flavor. Really chocolatey. Straight forward but excellent. Oxidation is present. Slightly bitter earthy flavor. Could be cardboard but it isn't offensive.

Mouthfeel - Very boozy. Still hot. No carbonation. Heavy.

Overall - This is incredibly good. Looking forward to the new one.

Bottle@Home shared with my father to celebrate his 60th birthday.

Appearance: Dark red with almost no head. Quite beautiful.

Smell: Raspberries, Malt, Grain, Fudge, Vanilla.

Taste: Malt, Chocolate, Raspberries, Caramel, Vanilla.

Mouthfeel: A solid malt base with a bit of tartness from the berries. Smooth, complex and supertasty.

A truly interesting take on a eisbock and one of the better beers i’ve had lately.
