Very quick notes from a sample of my gf's beer:

S&A: Yeasty fruitiness. No head present. dark red semi-translucent looking beer.

T&M: very boozy (a little overwhelming). very yeasty, with hints of citrusness and dark fruits. On the medium side of carbonation, medium to full bodied. Its very warming.

overall: it was good, and it tasted great for how high the ABV was but it just wasn't worth 7$ a bottle.

2018 batch.

This one pours a golden reddish color, with a small head, and basically no lacing.

This smells like candied dark fruit, nutmeg, brown sugar, cooking sherry, pear, caramel, toffee, and almond/amaretto. This is super complex.

This takes a bit to get used to, but once you do, it's a really big treat. I'd love to see a barrel-aged version, but it's so complex to begin with. Dark fruit - dried raisin, caramellized/crystallized grape, etc - is the star here. There's also winter spicing - nutmeg, cinnamon maybe, with a very intriguing and welcome sweet almond, almost amaretto like flavor. There's also toffee and caramel, which are more expected, along with pear and apple. It's crazy that there's so much going on here, it's a really interesting to track as it warms and opens up.

This is medium bodied, big, but not syrupy or actually too thick, with a warming booziness on the back end that never gets overwhelming. I could imagine this aging well for up to 5-10 years more.

This is super complex, and really fun to drink. I wish I had another one to age for many more years.

For purposes of the review, a 2012 edition was consumed of 12/24/17.

Appearance - The beer poured a deep ruby red color with a off-white colored head.

Smell - The beer had a nose that was rich with winter spices. Clove and nutmeg were particularly strong.

Taste - A rich bouquet of spices was present from the beginning. Aside from nutmeg and clove, cinnamon apples and amaretto notes were easily detectable. As the beer warmed, there was a definite caramel presence.

Mouthfeel - The 11%abv was well masked. The beer was warm and had viscosity.

Overall - Apparently, age does this beer wonders because I don’t understand the low scores.

12 oz. bottle. Says 2009 and 2011? Deep amber and ruby body. Some khaki bubbles that settle out quickly. Smells of raisins and alcohol. Brown sugar and sherry oxidation. Taste starts sweet and sugary. Dark fruits and raisins. Quickly cut by a sharp acidity and oxidation that dries it out. Alcohol burn in the back end. Warming with low carbonation. Heavy and slow to drink. Not something I'd drink again, but interesting enough to warrant trying at all.

2007 bottle shared by Brewnbbq, thanks for the opportunity Jeff!
Rich caramel maltiness with plenty of fruity notes and a hint of warming alcohol. Held up great, I'm glad I got to try it!
