This is the flagship beer that started it all and remains a fan favorite to this day. Golden in color with a medium citrusy hop aroma, light toasty, caramel malt flavor. Medium bitterness with a lasting but refreshing finish. Bret first brewed this American Pale Ale in the mid-nineties, and became the impetus for opening a brewery.

Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is light weedy grass hop. The flavor is moderate bitter with a light hoppy citrus palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

a well enough made beer, but this one did very little for me. its very much from the old school despite the dry hopping, it is malty and bitter and it gets heavy when it warms up even a little bit. light light pale amber in color, with a good head on it. the aroma smells biscuity and like a medium crystal malt, along with a classic northwestern hop profile, leafy and spicy and fresh, but quite bitter for a pale ale. the flavor also has a lot of bitterness in the finish, it pushes through a not insignificant malt sweetness too, making this one seem conflicted and weighty to me, odd for a pale ale these days. i dont like them this malty, but the balance is impressive i suppose, just not my personal preference. with american pale ale, i want to drink more than one, but this was neither easy enough or unique enough to get me there. i love this brewery, but this is a far cry from their best work, unless you like a more substantial and balanced but also bitter pale. good but definitely not great.

Poured on-tap and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a hazy, caramel-honey gold coloring, with a foamy, clingy, bright white head. Nose of subtle caramel, grassy and lemon hops profiles, and subtle peppery highlights. Flavors are lemon and berry sweet forward, with a subtle bitter hops ribbon of pine and grassy notes, and a tangy sweet caramel backbone. Smooth and light in mouth, with a tangy sweet and grassy aftertaste. The finish is smooth and light, with a fruity and hoppy linger. Interesting brew.
