Appearance- Rich dark cherry color, consistent and little to no head probably due to alcohol content
Smell- nice cherry smell, continues rich, the remainder of the scent but reminds me of dark fruits, and it smells sweet and deep. Can smell either brown sugar or molasses, when I tried to smell figs and the beer in short order, I could distinctly smell figs.
Taste- This tastes really wonderful, as I continued to drink it, the taste got stronger, deeper and better. Complex taste that has character at the start, sweetness in the middle, and solid finish. No taste is overpowering and no single taste dominates. As such, the strength of the flavor never overpowers your palate. For a beer with such a high alcohol content, this beer has a well rounded taste. As the beer warms in your glass the flavor only improves. Can taste dark cherry and figs/dates.
Mouthfeel- creamy feel in your mouth, sweet but not sugary, subtle tastes help this high alcohol content beer from having an overpowering feel while drinking it, and the finish is smooth and continues to develop the flavor rather than leaving any type of after-taste that could possibly ruin the experience.
Drinkability- This is a great beer that I could have a couple glasses of. Due to the complexity of the flavor, I'm not sure that more than 2 or 3 glasses would continue to be great, but the both glasses I enjoyed were great and the flavor got better the more in took over my palate.

12oz bottle from IAmJacksHopTongue (much apprecitaed!). 2013 bottling. Served in a Bruery snifter.
Pours an opaque chestnut with a minimal cap of pale head. Trace bubbles remain around the edges without leaving any lace to speak of.
Smells akin to a nice port. Dark fruit, caramel, toast and a faine wine-like alcohol note. Nice.
Taste follows the nose. Raisin, fig, caramel, burnt brown sugar, tawny port, toasted marshmallow, earthy vanilla and a little booze. A splendid ensemble of old ale flavors that goes down dangerously easily for it's 13.5% abv.
Body is medium heavy and syrupy with light carbonation. A pleasant port, caramel and toasted marshmallow finish.
This is an outstanding old ale. Such richness and complexity set it well above most other examples of the style that I've encountered. This is a beer worth hoarding to enjoy over many years. Very highly recommended.
