Nice burnt caramel colour with a light white head on top. Nose is heavy on citrus and caramel, though not aggressive.

The flavour on this is textbook Amber, a smooth, malty underbody with light citrus hopping, and some slight earthy herbal notes thrown in for good measure.

Mouthfeel is moderately full though not remarkable. Drinkability, also a slight notch above average. A good beer, worth buying, easy drinking, enjoyable, but not truly special.

The bottom line: Kuhnhenn has put together a fairly middle of the road Amber here. If I were in the mood for the style, I would not hesitate to order it again, but it doesn't do anything particularly special either.

Crystal clear amber colored body comes through nicely in my newly acquired Kuhnhenn pint glass. Small off white head on the pour which stayed as a thin layer ‘til the bottom. A good bit of carbonation bubbles rise quickly to the top. Light aroma but quickly I can pick up some Cascade and possibly Amarillo hoping leading to a nice citrus aroma. Some caramel sweet malt rounds it out. Flavor is predominately semi-sweet, biscuit malt and finishes out with some nice floral hop overtones. Not overly bitter at all and fairly well balanced although it might lean towards the malty side of things. A nice flavor, but not overly powerful. Mouthfeel is a touch thinner than most ambers. Drinkability is excellent. A crisp, refreshing beer which finishes clean and comes at you with a good flavor.

Thanks to Gaisgeil for the growler through Secret Santa ’05.

A nice starter for the day, reddish tinge to the body, with lace left. This batch at 5.8% enjoyed at the brewpub. This classic comes back from time to time, and feels more hoppy than it is. Good malting that asserts itself in the mouthfeel.More sweet than bitter on balance.

An excellent hoppy American Amber, strong and flavorful enough to really be something, yet light enough to allow it to remain sessionable.

Pours a fairly clear deep red/amber in color with an off-white head to match, quite fizzy. Nose is deeply hoppy, lots of herbal/pine/citrus notes coming from this, I'm guess a number of hop types were used. Taste is similar, good bittering but with a creamy, biscuity malt backbone. Nice medium mouthfeel. Drinkability is quite high as it's got a low ABV but is very, very flavorful.

On tap at Ashley's in Ann Arbor.

Definate red appearance, clean looking

Nice "red" malt smell and a bit of hops but what is expected for this type.

Tastes like it smell, nothing special, solid mouth feel, easy drinking, had it with a hamburger, very good with it. Not my favorite beer, but nice.

Appearance: Has a pale amber color that is semi-transparent. Had a small head, but it retained quite well and got some decent lacing.

Smell: Has a surprisingly sweet smell to go along with the solid hop presence. Has a slightly fruity aroma.

Taste: Good balance between sweet and bitter. It's very smooth and has a beautiful hop kick.

Mouthfeel: A little bit thin in this area, but not bad. It's not watery or anything.

Drinkability: This is pretty darn good. I could certainly get this again.

Enjoyed at the brewpub. Hazed caramel colour with a thin white cap, some lacing and good retention. Mild aroma with pleasing notes of biscuity malt and citrusy hops. Moderate bitterness with citrusy sweet, orange and grapefruit hop flavours. Some caramel and earthiness. Medium/light body and carbonation with a bit of dryness. This was a tasty beer and a solid amber ale. The hops were plentiful, which kept it interesting.

From 06/22/12 notes. Had on tap at the Blind Tiger on Bleeker in NYC. Served in a pint glass.

a - Pour a hazy amber, red-brown color with one finger of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of dark fruits, sweet fruity malts, light citrus hops, toasted malts. Nice and fruity, a very nice nose.

t - Tastes of dark fruits, sweet fruity malts, chocolate, roasted malts, citrus hops, and pine hops. Taste has more hops than nose and some chocolate which work well together; a little better than the nose for me.

m - Medium body and low to moderate carbonation. Easy to drink and smooth body.

o - Overall I liked this one a lot; one of the better Amber Ales I'd had in a while. Nose was fruity and hoppy, and the taste had chocolate malts and even more hops. Easy to drink, would definitely like to have it again.

Poured a murky reddish brown. There was a small white head that went away almost instantly.

Smells of citrus hops and herbs. It also has that "fresh" smell that can only be found right at the brewery.

The taste is herbal hops balanced by a nice bread-like malt backbone. Not overly complex but very tasty and refreshing. There is a nice aftertaste and the carbonation tickles the inside of the mouth after each swallow. This medium bodied amber goes down smooth and easy, I could have a couple more without a problem.

Listed at 5.8% ABV on the menu. One of the better beers I had this evening. Pours to a burnt orange, forming a light yellow head with sparse lacing and minimal retention. Mild-moderate carbonation. Bright hop nose with lots of ester fruitiness. Smells like Centennial used here. Mild-moderate herbal bitterness with a toasty amber middle. Medium-light body. Cleanly fermented. Not too shabby.

Kuhnhenn Anneliese Amber
64 oz growler
Moderate pour in an English pint
Unknown brewing (recent?), enjoyed 2 days after the growler pour, 04/07

Poured a clear reddish amber with an average somewhat diminishing off white head.

Smelt of moderate caramel, citrus, light dough.

Taste was upfront moderate caramel and citrus hops followed by a moderate to strong bitter toasted malt and garden greens hops on an average finish.

Palate was light to medium bodied, fizzy, slightly oily and lightly astringent.

Overall, a very satisfying amber with a good emphasis on taste, but nothing makes it stand out.
