2011 vintage poured into tulip. A huge thank you to Eric for this one. Thanks TurdFurgison!

A: Pours a deep mahogany color with a thin, active, dark tan head that quickly faded to nothing.
S: Super potent and sweet notes of sticky sweet malts, candied dates, and raisins. Slightly notes of wood, faint oxidization, and slight chocolate and dark spice come through as well.
T: caramel, leather, raisin, and tobacco are easily noticeable. Sticky malt dominates are there is a woody quality to the brew. The finish is full of molasses and slight oxidization, and the aftertaste has a touch a bread crust, spice, and powdery chocolate.
M: Full body, boozy but not hot, low but tingly carbonation, sticky and viscous mouthfeel. A but fizzy and lighter than a equally as boozy stout. Sweet, but the finish is actually pretty drying.
O: A sticky sweet malt bomb that was complex and smooth enough to be interesting, but became a bit of a chore halfway through the bottle. Good for what it is though, thanks again Eric!

12 Fluid Ounce bottle
Served in a pilsner glass
Bottled in 2011

A - It has a ruddy brown body with burnt orange highlights. It is topped with less than an inch of tan head.

S - It has a dark fruit aroma. I get some dates and figs. It smells sweet as well.

T - The taste is all malt. I get some dates and molasses. The alcohol is well hidden. I'm sure 2-3 years has helped that aspect.

M - Medium and smooth.

O - This is a malt bomb. It is high in alcohol and high is sweet malty flavors. I like it. I think is has aged wonderfully and developed into a very good beer.

12oz 2011 extra received from Lymph a while back in a pretty awesome trade!! Big props to Robert... Very generous guy. Pours a hazy mahogany... very little head and no real cap or lacing... Pours thick like a watered down Aunt Jemima... Should be much clearer and have some sort of head on it.

Wow... This smells like a doppelbock on steroids. Boozy dark malt with rum soaked fruit.. plum and raisin... Incredibly rich.

Flavor is very rich, but not on the same playing field as the nose.. a bit fruity like an English Old Ale.. dark sorta cherry/orange essence (odd, I know) along with a slight chocolate element not present in the aroma... EtOH and brown sugar on the finish... a little oxidation reminds me of tawny port.

Flavor is thick and mildly syrupy... actually close to tawny port :-) but with some very minor carbonation.

Pretty proper... HUGE, but proper. I truly appreciate it Robert... Thanks buddy.

Thanks to abanton for this bottle, always happy to see those fourth-grade Kuhnhenn labels show up on the doorstep. 12 oz. bottle on a nanook Minnesota evening.

The pour high grade dark amber, with only faintly imagined carbonation. Nose dances to its own beat & is hard to pin down. Raisins? Plums & figs? Alcohol? Old leather? All of this & more, but there's a strange quality I can't quite find on the keyboard.

Dark Heathen Triple Bock could be used on waffles. Thicker than honey & nearly as sweet, the beer brings a wild influx of flavors befitting its freakishness. Clover honey with a sprinkling of figs/prunes, big sweep of raw syrup & caramel, brown leather motorcycle jacket that's hit the pavement one too many times, unfocused but strong herbal notes. This walks a tightrope over a vat of cough medicine but manages not to slip or drown. Alcohol is present but leashed. A sipper, but one that goes down beautifully.

Incredibly complex & nearly as big, this is one of those brews that I'm happy to have experienced, because it's like nothing I've tasted before; it's like a lager was drowned in the liquid & resurrected. Very good beer.
