Served in my favorite snifter glass.
Vintage bottle from 2011 served September 2nd, 2013.
Appearance: dark mahogany colored body with little to no bubbles on the body creating a slightly off-white head that has a light orange tint to it. The head with a hard pour didn't rise much, I would say maybe 1/8" if that dropping to almost nothing before the first sip.
Smell: light molasses and caramel scent, awesome to sniff but little lighter than what expected.
Taste: I have had old ales before and this one on taste alone crushes almost anything else I have ever had. Complex and sweet that might overwhelm some people with its brown sugar feel and maltiness that is incredibly addicting.
Mouth: light to medium carbonation at best. Ridiculously sticky and for that alone I have to give I respect.
Overall: If you are looking for a good beer and like that caramel note to it, this beer is beyond perfect. Has some flaws but most of is easy to overlook because rarely you get something that tastes as good as this. Grab a bottle on me and enjoy....Salud!
